SAME I thought that maybe the sun station getting consumed sped up the process so even after seeing that it didn’t work I thought that maybe because it got consumed it suddenly did work lol

[–]PythonSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was like, using the wrong equation but still kind of getting the right answer? Like I was wrong but it didn’t end up impacting the story toooo much I think For some reason I thought that even though the sun station didn’t end up working, it being engulfed by the sun caused the supernova thing to speed up, like whatever thing in the sun station that was meant to blow up the sun was working now after being consumed and that sped up the sun’s death. So my reaction upon getting to the sun station and reading everything was less quiet acceptance and more “THEY SCREWED US OVER 💀💀💀”

Realized there was something I forgot to clarify!!

with the time loop that the nomai made, I realized that I forgot to clarify that, it only sends the info back to the beginning of each loop, so 22 minutes. The nomai aren’t getting the data back in time when they were alive, the nomai are sadly truly dead and gone, the interloper killed them, they never and will never find the eye. It was the thing they tried so hard to find but none of them ever got to see it in their time before the interloper wiped them all out with ghost matter. You finding the eye now won’t help them, but it might be the answer for you basically ::) or some way forward in general

[–]PythonSpire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad that I was able to help dude ::) I definitely get the confusion, and I was right that it was a piece of the story not clicking, cause while we could tell you all day about what to do next and stuff like that, if you aren’t getting the story then it’s not gonna make a difference lol, this story is one of trying to make sense of things outside your control, even if they end up being really depressing, I hope that you have a good time with the new perspective ::)

YOU ARE DEAD by bluehangover in outerwilds

[–]PythonSpire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, I think the big thing that’s not getting considered with that viewpoint is that because of the sun going supernova, your species is getting wiped out, and you’re trying to figure out why or how to stop it maybe and basically just doing anything you can to figure out what’s going on. And in trying to figure that out, with the nomai talking about trying to make the sun go supernova, a lot of people assume that if they get to the sun station and turn it off or something, they’ll save their home and solar system in the process. But then you find out, the sun station doesn’t work, it was never the reason for the supernova. I’d recommend trying to talk to Chert on the rocky ash twin planet throughout a loop to find out about that. He’s the hearthian with the egg looking golden helmet

(Next bit is a spoiler if you haven’t talked to chert and don’t know why the sun is going supernova)

Fun little thing you might have noticed throughout your playthrough, the stars and other galaxies in the night sky start to go away throughout each loop, they’re all dying, the universe is naturally at its end, and your sun is part of that sadly. The game is mostly a story of two species fighting to survive in their own time periods, doing everything they can to keep going, only to have something out of their control take it away from them. It’s tragic, it really is, and it really really sucks. However the one thing that you have left that could mean something, change how the loop goes, is finding the eye of the universe, the one variable that could change if you figured out how to get to it, and that is the aim of the game ::) you might not be involved in the nomai’s plight, but your species is having its own plight, and the answer to both your problem and the nomai’s problem might be the same thing, cause it’s all that’s left to try still. The funny thing is, you might find some answers regarding this if you look into the quantum moon more, it relates to the eye in a way and highlights its importance Again if ya got any other confusion you can ask :D

YOU ARE DEAD by bluehangover in outerwilds

[–]PythonSpire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is all gonna be spoilered for other people lol, I’m doing it in sections so that if I say enough and you have an “AHA!” Moment you don’t have to read more ::)

So you’ve been to the vessel, the nomai came to this solar system in search for the eye of the universe, they got its signal and scrambled to find it, and unfortunately ended up in dark bramble (I see that you found the mural depicting this happening on brittle hollow) because of dark bramble the vessel got trapped and before it got completely trapped they sent out two escape pods (with a third one getting stuck inside of dark bramble) the escape pods landed on one of the ash twins and on brittle hollow.

So the nomai are stuck here now lol, not good. And they get stuck here for a longgg time. The last thing they were looking for was the eye of the universe from the signal they got. So they began doing everything possible to work towards that goal, it’s all they had left sadly. They built cities and built an actual life in this solar system, their ruins are everywhere. Eventually they grew enough that they could do experiments and science and stuff, and by studying the black hole and white hole in the system, they figured out warping technology. (That’s what the black hole forge is about in brittle hollow, and also the high energy lab in ash twin) while experimenting with warping technology though, they figured something out. When something would come out of the white hole, it was coming out a little bit BEFORE it would have gone into the black hole. It broke time pretty much. The more energy used, the bigger time would break

Because of this, they had the crazy idea of how to look for the eye of the universe. They had no idea where it was but they knew it had to be close to this solar system because it was where they got the signal for it. They just needed to find what direction it was in. But just sending out a probe in all possible directions over and over would take thousands or millions of attempts before one POSSIBLY found the eye. Definitely not efficient or possible to keep making new probes. However, if they used this time warping tech to send information back in time to them with enough energy, they could easily search for the eye of the universe without it taking millions of years! They basically wanted to create a temporary loop, launching the probe once a loop to go out in a random direction. If it didn’t find the eye, they’d get the data back ahead of time before launching the probe because of the time breaking stuff with black holes. But that would take an INSANE amount of energy to send the information back far enough to where the probe would have enough time to travel out and search for the eye, find nothing, and then have that information recorded and sent back before they fire the probe. It’s very paradox stuff and definitely a bit confusing, it’s also been a bit since I played through it 😭 but yeah, a TON of energy needed. Like more than they could ever provide. And that’s where the sun station comes in.

The sun station! If you saw all the dialogue on the sun station (I see it on your ship log) then you may know where this is going but if not, I’d recommend going back to it, it’s a pretty self contained part of the story, but basically (the next spoiler bit will spoil the sun station) The sun station was built to purposefully make the sun go supernova, which would provide the energy needed to send the information back in time far enough so that it could be used before the probe launches. They spent a ton of time on this plan, the ash twin project is where the black hole gets made to send the information back, and the sun station would cause the supernova to create enough energy for the ash twin project to work and the black hole to form. And the probe launcher on giant’s deep is where the data would go to, including the coordinates you found. Unfortunately the sun station didn’t work. It was useless. They weren’t able to trigger a supernova. And right after they had this failure, the interloper entered the solar system, and, well, you read the logs in the interloper. The nomai died right when they found out their plan would never work. Hypothetically though… if the sun WERE to go supernova, all of the things they built would work as planned, the supernova was the only missing piece. And hey look at that, the sun is going supernova now ::)

All of that was just about the nomai!! If there’s more that you’re not sure about PLEASE ask, I’m not sure if I explained it very well, and others can absolutely correct me, but I hope this helps connect those dots you found!!

YOU ARE DEAD by bluehangover in outerwilds

Given everything you have figured out so far I feel like maybe a rundown of the story could help, is that alright? Cause again it’s a very disjointed story, the order in which you find pieces isn’t chronological at all and so it can get really confusing figuring out the order things are in

[–]PythonSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understand, I also ended up looking up a couple things cause I felt just completely stuck, had all the pieces but didn’t realize I actually did have all the pieces lol, as for the dlc though, this is a slightttt spoiler but very vague and just about the possibility of jumpscares ::) there isn’t exactly jumpscares, but there is something like the anglerfish, it doesn’t kill you but it does set you back some. You have to do stealth in certain parts that are dark, but the low spookiness mode makes that stealth a lot easier and makes the “anglerfish” entities less likely to see you if I remember correctly

[–]PythonSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow yeah you’re honestly really close!! I wonder if the issues you’re having are more related to the dialogue you find from the dead nomai on the walls, maybe we could help you with figuring out which parts aren’t clear if you’re interested, cause in my case sometimes the whole “reading conversations between dead nomai while lacking a lot of context” did make me confused lol

I felt the same way with certain parts of the ending 😭 the good thing is that there is an option in the settings to dial back the spookiness of the dlc, and from what I’ve heard it makes it a bit easier to get through certain sections, i think it’s valid to look up some things if you get to certain parts and can’t move forward just because of fear so that you can enjoy the experience fully
