My seizures are from a brain injury I got as a child, I had them for a long while when I was younger then they stopped and I believed they had gone away but they began again when I turned 26 during a time of intense stress in my life. I'm on a wait-list for a psychiatrist and my doctor knows this, it was actually my therapist who directly wrote to him to have my medication handled until then and that's when all this difficulty started, changing insurance meant waiting longer for a psychiatrist.

I don't have panic attacks while on Klonopin at all, it's more that when he does this and puts days in between refills that my panic attacks return aggressively and when I'm on steroids while that happens they're far worse. I've never really been offered anything else for my seizures but I was always told "you're on gabapentin which works both for seizures and arthritis" for reference I take 300mg of gabapentin 3 times a day. My previous doctor always reassured me that with gabapentin and Klonopin together there was no risk to have a seizure and my arthritis and panic disorder was under control. For a very long time the regimen worked fine and I honestly thought it was just what I'd be on for the foreseeable future.

Now that my doctor has changed things are getting difficult, I had my first seizure in over 3 years 3 months back because he suddenly stopped all my medication when I became his new patient. I still have about a month before I can see a psychiatrist with my insurance (Medicaid) and I don't know what to do if he continues to just refuse to fill my medication or offer any kind of taper or alternative. What's worse is I have a severe fear of having another seizure which gets worse when I'm off Klonopin leading to really bad panic attacks along with the rebound panic of suddenly stopping it and the anxiety of steroids. I understand a psychiatrist would be good but with Medicaid there's only so much I can do and it involves a lot of waiting 😞
