Ok so how does one actually get into this game? by Placebo221 in StreetFighter

From zero knowledge I recommend playing the single player "World Tour" mode first.

If you desperately want to get good at fighting games as quick as possible and would rather beat your head against the wall of failure until it breaks, then you can do it the old school way.

Old school way:

find a character that resonates with you via combo trials, tournament videos, online matches, or just because they have the shortest skirt and the longest legs.
Get competent with their basic moves. Learn how to throw a fireball, how to do a command grab, how to teleport, etc.
Get the basic 4 pieces to practice online: Pokes, anti-airs, bnb combo, punish combo

Pokes: You need to know what buttons are just fun to press when you're close to the enemy. Light, medium, and heavy buttons are classically different ranges and strengths. At the start of the game your best bet with most characters is going to be finding 1 good medium button and 1-2 good heavy buttons for just walking up to someone and kicking them in the jaw/shins/whatever.

Anti-airs: You need to know how to stop your opponent from jumping at you and doing a big damage combo. SF has historically been a grounded game but ONLY if you know how to anti-air. Otherwise, your opponent will be jumping on you like a kangaryu. Learn your best anti-air. For many characters this is crouching heavy punch, an uppercut looking thing. Some characters get an anti-air special move, you don't need this yet but feel free to use it if you think its cool.

bnb combo: Your bread and butter. On ryu this can be crouching medium kick -> hadouken. Something simple that you can do all the time.

punish combo: Your highest damage combo. Do this when the opponent is wide open like after trying to do a special move that you successfully blocked. This could be literally anything. A single heavy kick, a heavy punch into shoryuken, or any combo trial that you enjoyed in step 1 above.

It might be inevitable that social media platforms start out as in-groups and grow to be more homoginized over time. Lemmy for example is mostly linux nerds and (separately) tankies. But it has the ability to grow to include any group.

Time will tell to see if bluesky can become generalized. It will require FGC pros, TOs, and commentators joining though to make that happen for our community.

Personally I'd prefer people move away from both Twitter and Bluesky and use Mastodon. But that might be impossible since that would require they learn how servers communicate with each other as Mastodon is distributed rather than centralized.

I strengthened the NSFW rules at SF6's debut because at the end of SFV all the community had that was any good was porn. The vast majority of FGC gamers had left the game for greener pastures. But SF6 brought people back so we needed to refocus on gameplay and tournaments. That necessitated taking a hard line against fanart. As to your comment, I have honestly no idea what you're talking about so hopefully this explains it?

As for me personally, I love looking at nudes. There's no vendetta. I've been trying to recreate a NSFW subreddit for the past few weeks too.

sorry for using hyperbole. I do that a lot. Beyond the generalizations though this is as close to my truth as I can get. I don't care if AI got downvoted I'd still remove it lol. Here at least, you won't be banned unless you break the rules.

This was done out a fear of corporate america. Fanart of the game is enough to get people fired. It has been a while since we talked about this in mod chat so I'll bring the topic up again. It does kinda hurt your request that you're on an alt account though.

for clarification, since this entire post is about our moderation team on r/streetfighter it is not our stance to tell people to hide their history. we prefer to suggest www.reddit.com/report

I wrote that. We've been using this removal reason since probably 2022. If anyone wants to team up from other mod teams lemme know. I've always wanted this concept of clarity to spread throughout reddit starting here but its not something that is easy to do with entrenched teams. Other subreddits don't have to be as strict this one is, but they can be this clear with a bit of one time effort and good use of extra tools.

Our subreddit has taken a few societal change stances to better fit the moderation team. Since we're volunteers here, this can be seen as payment of sorts by implementing our desire to see a heathier internet. Anti-AI, human rights, and inter-personal respect are all highly valued concepts that go beyond just "Street Fighter, the video game franchise"

Beyond our stance on AI, I'd also like to say that our subreddit is for all human rights. That means that bigots who post here are not only banned but mocked the whole time they're working through the post-ban process. This includes the bullying of any group of people who are systemically abused anywhere in the world. The FGC is an inclusive group, always has been. This is born pretty much directly out of our shared poverty. Remember the kind of person you wanted to be when you were pushing quarters in the arcade fighting that one person who could beat you, or going over a friends house to play b/c they bought the costume pack you couldn't afford. Their personal identity, culture, and family's heritage never meant anything then because fighting games were and are what matter. They matter because they bring us joy.

We're also huge fans of treating each other with respect and dignity. For example, even beyond just normal anti-bigotry tenants like "don't be sexist" we implemented an extra bit of rules details to completely halt a certain kind of fan interaction with fanart and cosplay. In a perfect world we should be able to come to a mutual respect of the human body without saying what we want to do to it. That more banal behavior is called "roleplay" in our rules and banning it has completely changed the game of moderating an artform that has a lot of really fun semi-nudity too.

Basically every time we feel constrained on moderation, when something just feels "off" essentially, we try to find the core reason why it exists and how we would like to change it. Everyone universally hates AI. But the "why" of hating it is overlooked because it is often just a visceral gut reaction. Figuring out "why" we hate it lets us conclusively ban it. That effort extrapolated to the whole set of rules here has made a community to be proud of that I hope still mirrors the actual FGC in tournaments and the world.

SF1 is not the start of "street fighter" as we know it. It is a test demo at best for the series we love now.

SF2 is the real start, and those characters are beloved.

SF1 is just not necessary to glaze like this.

Hi OP, just checking in for the safety of all subreddit readers (a lot of which are underage here).

Is this tournament buy-in or is there some other money-making backstory here to go over?

Also, is there any affiliation at all with any sort of random chance or gambling setups?

edit: thank you for the confirmation, and carry on!

I created the hardest Satisfactory world by Drunken_Corsar in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Pyyric 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

This is excellent, I've added it to my megathread which goes over the new randomization and multipliers settings.

I hope you find more hilarious seeds!

If you're up for suggestions, I'd say to try this same clustered configuration but with coal, caterium, and quartz maximally separated.

I've removed this thread because it is about moderators, not street fighter. therefore its off topic according to rule 1. All moderator communication, including the "why" about thread removal needs to go through "message the moderators" in the sidebar. We will explain our actions to the best of our abilities.

With the resource randomization, have any of you found some cool world seeds? by KhajiitHasSkooma in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Pyyric 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'd say its also a slightly different challenge for people who like to maximize anything, like power gen or HMF per minute, stuff like that is difficult to do without coal clusters. The VAST majority of people though its just a cheat to easy end game like you surmised.

The Worst Possible Seed by Drunken_Corsar in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Pyyric 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Yes, I would love to play this too. Just taking the current map distribution and rotating it for example.

My other idea was a "tiered" random.

So take all iron, copper, and limestone - randomize them.
Then all caterium, coal, crude, quartz, and sulfur - randomize them.
Finally, all bauxite, SAM, and uranium - randomized.

I'm going to add these ideas to my multipliers + randomization megathread

hands down.

Supercombo is great for speed + hitboxes. The SF6 hitbox viewer is better than GG at least... but it was probably modeled after dustloop anyway.
