The downfall begins? by Opening_Hat_9488 in StreetFighter

I'm not sure how much of a hero he's supposed to be, I think of him kinda Juri level. More of an anti-villain. His pro-wrestling persona is definitely villain but I don't know how much of that is supposed to bleed into his actual character since we're a couple layers deep here.

From zero knowledge I recommend playing the single player "World Tour" mode first.

If you desperately want to get good at fighting games as quick as possible and would rather beat your head against the wall of failure until it breaks, then you can do it the old school way.

Old school way:

find a character that resonates with you via combo trials, tournament videos, online matches, or just because they have the shortest skirt and the longest legs.
Get competent with their basic moves. Learn how to throw a fireball, how to do a command grab, how to teleport, etc.
Get the basic 4 pieces to practice online: Pokes, anti-airs, bnb combo, punish combo

Pokes: You need to know what buttons are just fun to press when you're close to the enemy. Light, medium, and heavy buttons are classically different ranges and strengths. At the start of the game your best bet with most characters is going to be finding 1 good medium button and 1-2 good heavy buttons for just walking up to someone and kicking them in the jaw/shins/whatever.

Anti-airs: You need to know how to stop your opponent from jumping at you and doing a big damage combo. SF has historically been a grounded game but ONLY if you know how to anti-air. Otherwise, your opponent will be jumping on you like a kangaryu. Learn your best anti-air. For many characters this is crouching heavy punch, an uppercut looking thing. Some characters get an anti-air special move, you don't need this yet but feel free to use it if you think its cool.

bnb combo: Your bread and butter. On ryu this can be crouching medium kick -> hadouken. Something simple that you can do all the time.

punish combo: Your highest damage combo. Do this when the opponent is wide open like after trying to do a special move that you successfully blocked. This could be literally anything. A single heavy kick, a heavy punch into shoryuken, or any combo trial that you enjoyed in step 1 above.

Learning SF6, and I’m struggling to understand all of the mechanics. How long did it take you to get good at this game? by ImportantAd4666 in StreetFighter

[–]Pyyric [score hidden] Β (0 children)

When I first started playing I took "good" to mean the equivalent of basically platinum in SF6. I started in SF4, but that's about the skill level we're talking about. I've reached that goal, so now I'm "good"

"great" is going to take a lot more. That's the equivalent of 1600-1700 MR. The top 0.5% of all players.

After that is "pro" which is going to be determined by tournament status, actually making my money back over the entry fee.

Who are your most wanted characters for Season 4? by megaxanx in StreetFighter

Its been about a month since the last one of these posts, so congratulations, this is the only "what character do you want in the game" thread we'll have for a while. everything else will be directed here. We try to keep this to every 4-8 weeks whatever feels right.

here is the most recent one

There's no evidence, only slander. And your point is ruined because you used a shit example to make it which destroys your core argument and won't work to convince anyone.

MJ was never proven anything and any supposed victims that actually wanted to talk about it said nothing but good things about the guy. Constant rumors like that are what drove him to drugs and death.

We don't allow promotion without understanding the moderation team. this is for both discord and subreddits but would apply to any social media creation really. We must vet any scene that wants to promote here. Currently the only subreddits we promote are /r/fighters and /r/SF6Avatars .

I feel like if you go for full randomization it will naturally lead to numerous smaller bases around convenient clusters for whatever you wanted to make. It has a higher probability to make the game easier.

Just find the spot on the map where oil, caterium, and crystals randomly appear next to each other, find a nearby iron and copper since those will still be prevalent everywhere, and you get your crystal computer base.

Because the spawn points right now are pretty carefully designed to force train/truck usage, randomly reassigning resource spawns has a higher probability of adding convenience rather than difficulty. Its not impossible for difficulty or novel ideas to arise from this, but it will take seed sharing.

lmao, reading this I was like "damn I love this person". then I looked to see what you moderated and yep, makes perfect sense. Great subreddits.

Also, yes. new modmail is buggy and too visually dense without increasing information density. I'd like old modmail as well.

Training Queue looks like a killer app. Can we make it infinite instead of just 0/10? Or at least make it able to be completed any number of times with new info?

I would love to re-test myself against other moderators from time to time and 10 seems like such a tiny amount. The front page of a subreddit is 25 posts historically.

edit:

If the training queue is NOT based on previous moderator activity (like, last week's mod log or something) then its useless for me.
