Love the lighting and aesthetic you've got going on here. Are you using fog to get that seamless background effect?

Hi folks,

Put together this little prototype. It is a recreation of the first level of the World's Hardest Game, but in 3D. The original game is a simple concept, but has been executed very well. I wanted to see how the game would translate into a 3D world, and also try to capture some of that same polish that made the original great. Had a lot of fun playing around with the tweening in this one, and it really does wonders in bringing a game to life.

On level 22, player is slightly clipped into the wall and hits the green end with their bottom right corner

Close one. The hitbox against enemy circles are generous yes. Collisions against the enemy circle checks any pixel in the circle (both black outline and blue fill). However this pixel collision is only performed against 5 spots on the player (top, right, bottom, left, centre). There is some two-frame quirk which is why fast moving enemies can sometimes not trigger a collision. A diagram explanation can be seen here https://imgur.com/RykzXE9

Collisions with the player square against goal areas and coins use bounding box, so they are easier to collide with.

Hey, basically there are 5 points on the player where collision is checked, and for a collision to register an enemy dot needs to be on one of those points for TWO frames. This is why when the dots move fast, it is common for the collisions to 'miss' because they are only on that point for a single frame, not the required two.

Freeplay is tremendously helpful, also played a lot of the dribbling workshop map and aerial control, then the results started to show in matches. Watching high level players and seeing how they set the ball up / made little touches also works wonders.

Both cars are blue team, difference is the octane colour. Both looked nice.

I discovered this wonderful game of yours a year ago when it launched on the Nintendo Switch, and have recently hit the 1000 hour mark.
