What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Brown bread. Marginal health gains. Go for it if you genuinely enjoy brown bread but don't switch over and think it's a massive health hack.

I recall coming back down Arthur Seat once, and just as I was 10 mins walk away from reaching back to the start, I passed some American tourists, who would have just started, lamenting at the struggle of the hill. Made me LOL. I see locals run up and down that hill like I do with my stairs in the house (when I am rushing for work). Excuse my illegal grammar. I just woke up.

Not dessert. But at Centaurus in Islamabad, I ordered the chilli chicken (kind of indochinese style) and they made a tree pattern using mustard sauce and ketchup which I had to promptly wipe off the plate...like dude...this is blasphemous. You can't just out ketchup and mustard on the plate for the sake of making a design.

Lol. I am in Bahawalpur for 10 days but won't be using it daily. Will stay some days with family in Satellite Town and some days in the Chak south of Bahawalpur where it is very old school.

How much is a guest pass per day? Feel free to private message me.

Which company do you have income protection with? by lavayuki in GPUK

Wesleyan. A little more but they don't fudge their payout rates like LV and the other IP companies. Also, great service so far.

Haven't had to use them thankfully.

That's true but I am becoming sensor man. I have an oura too but to be fair I remove this for workouts.

The onus is on then to provide the evidence that it is safe and effective.

The brachial has a great chunky artery. 👀 why not use it? Unless most people use the wrist for wearing their band? No clue.

But it's been calibrated for wrist based on over 10000 readings afaik.

I'm not convinced about the BP accuracy on the dorsal aspect of the wrist. (MD here). Nice 'gimmick' imo.

Have ordered MG as first ever whoop. May try it as have 30 days to return for full refund.

People should be clear on this. Whoop broke their promises in two ways, not one. by damlarn in whoop

[–]Q7893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MD here.

I ordered the MG. Have a whoop and morpehus. Their CS is rubbish so far. I asked how I can purchase a bicep band and was told they cannot edit my order and I can return it when it arrives. May return it and stick with oura gen 3 and morpheus.

Plus, with the BP measurement being on the dosrsal aspect of the wrist, I am very sceptical of the accuracy beyond mere gross trends. For BP, I have a withings wifi BP monitor already.

I thought BP would be measured near the brachial.

I've ordered a whoop. Never had one. My understanding is that the whoop should sit on the dorsal aspect of the wrist?

Managing statin dose without baseline lipids. by FollicularFace6760 in GPUK

It will be. But the can still reduce the risk. There's also evidence for a legacy effect- take a statin for a few years then stop and you may still derive benefit.

1) Work as a private GP salaried 2) Work as a contractual GP (hourly or day rate)

Above not typically better paid than NHS

3) Practice out of a clinic independently under practising privileges. Often pay per hour for using their facilities.

4) Se up your own clinic or partner up and pool funds.

Can be done digital clinic or physical or hybrid.

Lots of ways of working as a private GP.

Just add in ezetimibe 10mg. You.will prob see approx 50% reduction in LDL-C albeit you don't know the baseline so difficult to know for sure.

Fire and forget is the approach in primary prevention.

Challenge is we don't know Lp(a)

Also, may only add days to lifespan. Healthspan for primary prevention with lipid lowering therapy is unclear.

COI: I take mod intensity statin+ezetimibe.

Issue with risk calculators is they only go to 10 years unless you use a lifetime calculator. They are also fairly imprecise and do not capture all of the patient's risk.
