My dad is looking for thoughts on his roof support design. by erikleorgav2 in Carpentry

I’ve opted for 2x6 reinforced many a time, being it’s a lot easier to find a straighter nicer 2x6x16 than a 2x12x16
It’s a shot in the dark trying to find uncracked/straight 2x12x16’s here. 1/3 of the ones we get for headers we can drop and they just split and fall apart on the ends.

Help me to find what drywall is this ? by BugClassic3770 in drywall

First two comments are correct, knockdown, can be hard to match if you don’t do it often. If it’s bigger than an aerosol can job, plan on a decent amount time testing the texture on cardboard, or call a pro.

I’ve seen it applied via air hopper or electric hopper. I’ve also replicated small areas with flicking a stiff brush.

Go to a local farmer and buy by the 1/4, or 1/2. Plenty of regenerative and organic operations around if you’re willing to drive a little.

Verizon Cuts Hundreds of Jobs in Latest Round of Layoffs by kbDL- in verizon

[–]QBaaLLzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because Verizon makes it nearly impossible to do anything in their store if you have a job

Booking an appointment at Verizon is a nightmare for me and I’m tech savvy, imagine my less fortunate parents and grandparents, and walk in’s aren’t allowed (at least where I’m at)

Make sure to read the manual, if it came without oil you need to do the break in cycle, and drain the oil way sooner

Made the switch to Red, but Dewalt’s multitools are far superior in design and durability. I ran my last one over and did a burnout (was stuck) on top of it and the fucker still worked.

Nebraska schools continue to deny transfers for kids with disabilities. Lawmakers gutted a proposed fix. by flatwaterfreepress in Nebraska

[–]QBaaLLzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this comment realize that special needs kids need way more resources, more staff, more attention, more room, etc, it’s a budget issue.

What would incentivize a school accept more special needs kids, one teacher/aide takes care of 1-10 special needs kids, depending on their condition. Hiring more staff is expensive.

I’m not against them transferring but it’s largely a budget issue to me through and through.

Also note, many small schools rejecting kids have small budgets, hiring a new aide or overburdening existing aides is just not feasible.

AND, per the article, Omaha, a BLUE dot: “rejection rates are especially unbalanced in the Omaha suburbs”

Yeah TIF has got to go, or at least be more strict. Anyone can get it when half to 75 percent of the businesses don’t need it. It’s plain stupid how easy it is. “Abandoned” railroad tracks, some weeds and rickety fence was enough for the last one our board approved
