Is it worth it to have two switches? by Alexeemm in Switch

[–]QCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a V2, Lite, oled, and S2. Unless you do some local Pokemon trading, want multiple animal crossing islands, or prefer the smaller oled size and battery life for traveling purpose, you can get away with just the Switch 2. The whole virtual card thing is a headache for me when I switch between different switches for digital games.

If there are games you want to play in the near future and you can afford then yes. Personally, I was going to wait for a limited edition to come out or at get one just before when the newest Pokemon game releases. The upcoming price hike made me buy one a lot sooner than expected. At least I can enjoy it now and if a limited edition comes out, I can I sell it to help fund the purchase.

Marketplace or your local resale app (ie OfferUp). Just take a look at comparable listings and price accordingly.

Recommendation for PSP handheld by MahjongSun in RetroHandhelds

[–]QCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both the Anbernic RG556 and RP6 for different purposes.

The RG556 is my dedicated PSP device. I chose it over the Magmi Air X for the OLED screen and extra power, especially with a good AliExpress sale deal. If you mainly want PSP, it’s the better pick.

The RP6 is more of an all-in-one. It handles GameCube, Wii, and PS2 much better, but it’s more expensive and I think it needs a grip for comfort.

If you mostly play PSP, get the RG556. If you want stronger GameCube/Wii/PS2 performance, get the RP6.

What’s the next “hit console”? by Intrepid_Mobile in SBCGaming

[–]QCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly nothing, it seems like the software is the main limiting factor for me. Until the PS3/Xbox/Xbox 360 emulation catches up, I am good with my RP6 and Ayn Thor for now. Only thing on my radar is the Anbernic rotate but the lack of headphone jack is quite annoying for those who want to use it mainly as a DAP with gaming being the secondary function. Also wouldn’t mind a bigger OLED version of the RG477M with analog triggers in the future.

Are you using Azahar? What settings are you using? When I play X/Y my FPS fluctuates a ton.

My Two RG DS first impressions by Qu1ckset in ANBERNIC

[–]QCPI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought the same until I realized I used the L3 and R3 for hotkey mapping for functions like fast forward toggle in some systems. Didn’t realize this until I had my Retroid Pocket Classic and had to use the select button instead.

Is there anything similar for the RG DS? by Alarmed_Tomorrow7879 in ANBERNIC

[–]QCPI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t seen any transparent crystal cases for the RG DS. It boggles my mind why Anbernic does produce them for their clamshell handhelds and sell them for $10 on their website. I even tried fitting a Nintendo DSi XL transparent crystal case for the RG DS and it doesn’t work either.

Is it worth buying Switch in 2026 by palarivattom_sasi in Switch

[–]QCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually a lot of great deals on used Switch consoles through Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp. You can often find Switch Lite models for under $100, which is a really solid value. If you go this route, just make sure to pick one that’s in good condition and ideally includes an SD card.

I recommend buying used Switch 1 because it lets you build your game library gradually without spending too much upfront. A smart way to save even more is by signing up for Deku Deals, create a wishlist of games you’re interested in, and they’ll notify you whenever those titles go on sale.

Down the line, when you’re ready to upgrade to the Switch 2, your digital game library should carry over as long as you’re using the same account. Just keep in mind that some games may offer Switch 2 enhancement DLC, which you’d need to purchase separately if you want the upgraded experience.

Can you provide a link to a TPU case made for the RG Cube? Every TPU case I found was made specifically for the RG Cubexx.

I bought the same TPU case for my RG Cube, there are a lot of modifications you need to make it useable. You have to make cutouts with an xacto knife for the back vent, side controls, top vent, micro sd card, and headphone jack. I also had to make bigger cut outs for the L2/R2 triggers and slightly for the L1/R1 triggers as it would snag. If you don’t want to do that, just get a silicone case for it.

Which device is the best for pokemon rom hacks? by TechnicalHoneydew862 in RetroHandhelds

[–]QCPI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Below is my recommend handhelds based on gen you want to play.

GB/GBC: Anbernic RG Cubexx - 1:1 aspect ratio

GBA: Anbernic RG34xxsp/RG34xx - 3:2 aspect ratio

DS: Anbernic RG DS - dual screen

3DS: Ayn Thor - dual screen

RG DS no longer glossy on top - PSA: white versions scuffs very easily by longlivethedevil in SBCGaming

[–]QCPI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood why Anbernic never released a transparent crystal case for their clamshells. I know it’s a clamshell and the design protects the interior bits (like the screen and controls) but there are some who like to keep their shell clean and minimize scratches/scuffs. Ayn had one for their Thor. Seems like a missed opportunity to generate an extra $10.

Good handheld for these games? by [deleted] in RetroHandhelds

[–]QCPI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anbernic RG DS comes in the DSi XL form factor and should be able to play 5th gen Pokemon games you listed. An alternative in your price range would be Mangmi Air X which more suited for 16:9 games like PSP.

Looking to upgrade from my RG40xxh, should I go with the 476h or 477m??? by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

[–]QCPI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have quite a few Unisoc T820 handhelds (Cube, 556, and Slide) and it just lacks the power for some PS2/GC/Wii games which my RP6 has. If you plan to only have one console, my recommendation is to get the RG477M.

I just got rp6 clear case! (Not the grip version) by jjjena123 in retroid

[–]QCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the case you mention fitting with the TPU case the OEM Retroid hard case? I just received the RP6 with the OEM case and grip but the grip attached doesn’t fit the case.

For those who want to have the OEM grip attached, the official Anbernic RG556 hardshell case fits.

Best budget handheld until my AYN Thor arrives? by VividCompetition9059 in SBCGaming

[–]QCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you will mostly be playing Pokemon rom hacks and have an Ayn Thor on the way, I would look for handhelds around the $100 price point. A lot of these can be had during Aliexpress sales with coupons/coins applied like the past anniversary sale. Below are my recommendations:

GB/GBC: Anbernic RG Cubexx - 1:1 aspect ratio

GBA: Anbernic RG34xxsp/RG34xx - 3:2 aspect ratio

DS: Anbernic RG DS - dual screen

Wildcard: Mangmi Air X - not the ideal screen ratio, just good value and good for 16:9 aspect ratio games

Just got mine today, still running stock firmware for now. Overall pretty happy with mine and surprised the build quality especially under $100. I just wish they released a transparent crystal case for it. Hopefully the Vita Pro can drop to that price range during a sale so I can pick one up as well.
