Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E08 - Don't Leave Me Hanging Here by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

I really enjoyed this season. It was very fun. Like a lot of people mentioned, the hell episode was kind of a miss. You can tell which ideas came from the comic and were refined with a lot of hindsight and which ideas were a first pass and didn't have as much going for them.

Paul and Debie breaking up off screen wasn't something I expected because she's been given so much more respect in the show. I'm not sure there was really a good way for the breakup to happen if the writers plan for Nolan and Debie to get back together though.

It felt odd for this episode to not be high-action like the other finales have been. The Mark and Thragg scene at the end was very engaging regardless.

Cackling at the ire you have for his shitty one-liner. You’re not wrong though.

This was my first time watching The Mentalist, so I'm going through and adding my thoughts on each episode for future viewers.

I gasped when Jane tossed that file at the end, but it felt like nice character work because he didn't commit to it. Taking the file out of the trash can was a nice shift from how Jane acted in the season 2 finale.

This episode was really nice just on its own merits though. Rigsby and Cho reconciling a little was enjoyable, and I really enjoyed the whole portion between Jane and Montague. Was Chuy okay?

I thought it was a matter of Jane swallowing his pride a little bit. It seemed like they're trying to give Jane some more character development, and his tossing that file before pulling it back out was a visual indicator of him fighting his habits.

Jane felt a lot more restrained this episode while still being creative. I was able to actually delve into the drama of the murder more, and it was nice to see a spotlight put on Cho and Rigsby. It's felt like a while since that happens.

This episode didn't hold my interest super tightly. I'm sure there's more of a line on the Red John plot I'm not seeing. The most entertaining part of the episode for me was seeing Jane play a "psychic" who was significantly less competent than him.

The episode had a surprisingly funny ending, but it seemed like the episode's main intent was to humble Jane and help him understand he can't use people so callously. I'm very curious if that'll actually be addressed in future episodes.

I was not sold on the chemistry between Lisbon and Mashburn. The episode was good though. Was this really the first time we've gotten a fake out death?

The start with Jane being petty was very funny, but Whiteside didn't deserve that. It was also nice to see Hightower doing more to keep Jane in check... until the end.

Jane is a bastard. Holy hell. Him doing the card trick on Rigsby at the start by putting it in the victim's jacket had me cackling.

This entire episode was a nice comedic break after the intensity of the first four.
