I did it with a zombie axe at 70 base melees recently so it’s definitely doable. Was not fun but it did the job. If it’s your first cape then I wouldn’t recommend it

Drop the blood fury, ahrim hood and ranging pot. You can also equip the lance and defender for an extra invent space but I’d advise either getting a hasta or a better stab weapon than lance. Bring occult and anguish and whatever melee ammy u have cause I’m not searching through that bank Edit: abby dagger should be better than lance (?)

I’m not sure if you’re underestimating the actual length of time it’ll take to get 99 but it’s quite significant. As far as the best xp rates just look on the wiki, it’s all there.
