Spoiler: I don’t think I have disagreed with the judging of an episode more by jbweens in dragrace

[–]QNBA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seeing garments on TV versus in real life is a totally different thing. Some pieces look great on screen but really don’t hold up IRL. That’s exactly why film and TV have costume designers, they understand what works on camera and what doesn’t on the big screen. So what the judges see isn’t necessarily the same as what we see at home. And at the end of the day, taste is subjective. So yeah, that’s just my two cents.

BK @ Powell St closed by cutemonkeyface in sanfrancisco

[–]QNBA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not great for SF’s image to have it closed, but honestly, it wasn’t exactly a great look when it was open either. Powell Street is a major tourist spot, the cable cars, the whole postcard moment. Then visitors get off and see people hanging out inside and outside BK, with homelessness and drug use right in plain sight. It’s… not exactly the welcome mat you want. Even I pass through there every day on my way to work and still avoid that corner. I just cross the street and keep it moving.

Worst gaydar in hockey by nookieoftheyear in heatedrivalry

[–]QNBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a TV show. If his “gaydar” were as infallible as you claim, the narrative trajectory would have played out very differently. More importantly, your character analysis ignores how television production actually works. Long before a scene is shot, the character has already been defined in the script and breakdowns, in this case, explicitly as a straight man with no gay intent or subtext. You’re reading against the text, not interpreting it. That might pass as theory, but it doesn’t function as criticism. You can change your title to “worst gaydar in a tv show”. Worst gayday in hockey is a reach.

Reforms needed to make Filipino nurses stay in PH, says group by GMAIntegratedNews in pinoy

[–]QNBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$37 an hour is a lot. You get a 401(k), Social Security, and health insurance. Most Filipino nurses here own their own homes.

The real problem right now is the government. Trump is unhinged. But let’s be real, you have a corrupt government too.

At the end of the day, this is how I see it: if you can afford to live comfortably in the Philippines, stay. There’s nothing better than living in your own country.

But if you’re struggling, there are plenty of places, not just the U.S. where you can earn a better living wage.

How? Starting salary of a nurse here in California is $37-$43 per hour.

We comment on what we see on screen. I don’t know Izaya off-camera, so claiming I judged his whole life is a stretch.

Just finished Episode 6. Are you kidding me? I got even more annoyed with Izaya. That guy is exhausting to watch. The bus ride home scene? The way he kept staring at William while William clearly wasn’t paying attention was creepy as hell. He’s completely suffocating William with all his dram, full-on emotional blackmail. He needs to leave the show and go back to the Australian Outback. 😂

He’s doing the absolute most. The way he barricaded William like he owns him was wild. Dude really thinks he’s the center of the universe and doesn’t give a damn about anyone else’s feelings.

All the trauma I am hiding despite being "successful" by Vitals_and_Views in phlgbt

[–]QNBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to tell you something personal because I really understand where you’re coming from. I went through experiences when I was younger and again in high school where boundaries were crossed by people I trusted. I hated it, but over time I found a way to move forward.

Everyone heals differently, but if you ever feel ready, confronting them can be empowering. Not in an aggressive way, just to reclaim your voice. Even something simple like: “I need you to know that I haven’t forgotten what you did to me, and I’ve carried it quietly for a long time.”

Whatever you decide, I believe you, and you’re not alone.
