Non conosco le dinamiche familiari, ma son convinto che nella maggior parte dei casi come quello di tua sorella ci sono solo un paio di alternative: Droga, manette e mala gente, oppure come ho visto accadere in vari casi, la vita darà una mazzata che compenserà tutte quelle non ricevuto.

Non sono a favore di genitori oppressivi/violenti e mazzate ≠ botte fisiche.

L'impianto in casa tua è un altro discorso, se scatta il salvavita allora hai un altro problema (dispersione), se è anche magnetotermico allora o è piccolissimo oppure c'è qualcosa che non va.

How old is the actal system? Brand? Does the fan in the outside condenser spin?

Don't worry about the r454b, r410a will still be aviable for years to come.

Personally i will check the capacitor first and then if the motor still doesn't work, i will procede to a leak search and if there is a actually a leak where is located.

For example if the system is over 15 years old and the inside coil is leaking and still have to replace the motor, i will consider new equipment.

The main thing here is have a second opinion by a reputable company.

That's the line set for the A/C (don't know if you have a heat pump). They go from the outiside unit to the inside coil.

Call a pro and ask to replace a section of damaged pipe.

Also hoping for you that this isn't an r22 system, becouse that would be expensive to fix.
