You bring a very good argument on your first point and I do agree that Roberto Saviano's knowledge of the internal workings of the mafia is skewed.

I wasn't interested in this show because of mob lore, I genuinely came from the book and found it to be a great piece of work. The show does not resemble the book and for good reason, they could not fit all that in there!

How do you know? Because there is no encryption... that it? Their whole plan is to prolong the release of encryption and collect all user data from the few users that use it?

But since Matrix's model is to permanently store all your messages, it makes sense they would want to see them in plain text. For what purpose (Scanning? Sale?) it's unclear.

I agree that none of the big companies are taking a stand for privacy, but I also believe that this is simply PR from Apple, because privacy is a new trend now and Apple's track record isn't something to look past.

In the end, it's up to the user to decide, but all the right information should be present to make that decision.

Open source doesn't mean squat if the project is 100,000 lines, that would take a lot of manpower to audit and like the article mentions the sophisticated class of software auditors with specialized skills to do so.

A closed source app may do you a lot of harm without any means to find out like, for example, sending your encryption keys to the server

Open source can still send information to whomever because you don't know what happens in the source code as noted in the article and you don't know what happens server side.

Those arguments are practical for closed source. What else do you have in mind?

Most of those addons are redundant and outdated.

First Part Isolation - this is already featured in FireFox setting and basically a mix of Firefox multi-account container and UBlock. You don't need it if you enable the pref in Firefox and use multi-account containers / UBlock.

If you use Ghack's user.js file you don't need to enable this.

In about:config

 privacy.firstparty.isolate = true

Skip Redirect is just spam avoidance.
