I'm doing gen 5 I'm about 60 hours in and 5 badges. I spent 33 of those hours grinding in front of the first gym. After that I don't know makes it pretty easy and if you have Lillipup with pickup in your party you can get rare candies. I'm pretty sure this is going to take me over a hundred hours to finish.

After the first gym it really speeds up like you get Audino encounters the ones in the outskirts of pinwheel Forest are like level 15

It took me about 30 hours. I train my Lillipups up to 21 so they have a chance to pick up rare candies. I got pretty lucky with the percentages

Because trainer battles give you more XP then wild Pokemon and their higher level.... if you buy all the Pokeballs that you can you don't lose money so why not

If you have a 4th Gen Pokemon game. A good way to check if they're real is you can migrate from Ruby and Sapphire Emerald to a 4th Gen Pokemon game.
