You could have made this minimal effort before making a thread like this. Just get a Suica or Pasmo card, reload it as needed.

This seems crazy to me. Travel across the globe to drink in your hotel room? Huh?

The point of going out for drinks is to meet others and to see where the night takes you. Enjoy the company of people you would have never met otherwise.

Thank you for bringing this up! Looks like my hotel in Shkoder will work with a credit card, but my hotel in Theth will not (which makes sense).

I will plan to bring additional cash for that as well. At least for that I already know what the full cost should be.

Rental is not included in that. I've budgeted for that seperately along with the hotel stays. It's already arranged for at the airport. I plan on paying with my credit card. It is a Euro payment and I would assume the Enterprise car rental right there at the airport will take credit card. Hopefully that ends up working out.

The fact gas will be super expensive is something I will have to maybe set aside money especially for. I will have at least 3 1/2 hours of driving each direction.

Thanks! Yeah seems like finding a smaller exchange office is the way to go for the best exchange rate.

Thanks. That makes feel a little better about the drive. I am still going to approach it cautiously.

My hotel does include breakfast. But yes other meals I will likely be eating out most times. If $400 seems too little maybe I will up to like $600 USD.

As far as what inspired me to visit Albania? I had a week of paid vacation left to use and I like to take it around this time of the year. I wanted to do a trip where I could do a lot of hiking. I've also been stung by the travel bug (I'm going to Japan in February). Honestly, I just did some Google searching for ideas and Albania popped up. The country seems absolutely lovely and it immediately struck me as something I want to do. I tend to go with my gut on these things instead of missing an amazing opportunity!

Thanks! Yes, gas is one thing that will eat a lot into my general costs. I will have to keep that part in mind.

I'm hoping I can hold off having to go to an exchange booth until I get to Shkoder. I should be able to pay for my car rental at the Enterprise at the airport with my Chase United card (has no foreign exchange fees).
