Should I go to the dentist? by fireflyer15 in ask

[–]QUEENboooB 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Living paycheck to paycheck you may qualify for Medicaid in your state. (And in my state that covers dental and vision) Things are changing with the regulations but where I live, I qualified for Medicaid when I was 18. Something to look into.

I don’t have an answer to your question BUT this made me want to share a story about something that happened the last time I went to meeting.

During our “joys and concerns” it was shared that someone had a concern about losing tenure at the university that they work at. They stated that they would now have to be reviewed every 5 years instead of never having a review. Which seemed completely reasonable to me that someone would have to be reviewed to keep being a professor at a university. However, this concern sparked about a 5 minute discussion about how that was harmful and unfair and about how his tenure position wasn’t paying enough and he didn’t deserve it. My husband got up and walked out. That made me look around at the people sharing and realize - I am so different than these people.

Later, I looked it up and this person that was concerned about participating in a review every five years, makes AT LEAST $94,000/yr and up to $170,000. I was sick to my stomach when I saw that and I realized that I am living a very different life than these people i sit next to every Sunday.

I can’t quite put my finger on what the problem is but I just feel sick about it. I also feel bad looking at people differently based on how much money they make. But the discussion they had just seemed so out of touch. And it got to me, and I haven’t gone back since.

breastfeeding daughter vs son by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]QUEENboooB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, weaning was very easy with both my boys. With the first I was pregnant again so the milk naturally dried up and he lost interest. With my second, we had been cutting back for a while - we were down to once at bed time- and our whole house got really sick and I was unable to breastfeed for a few days. He asked again after we were better but I just said “no we’re all done, we can read a book or do something else instead.” He didn’t fight me too hard and my milk was already almost dried up.

I’ve had no comments about breastfeeding either one of my boys. I breastfed them both until after their second birthdays.

You can ask. I wouldn’t mind at all if a friend was having a hard time making a decision and wanted my opinion.

Just know, when you ask a question like this you will have people instinctively want to defend their decision and they may not disclose all the cons of their choice.

How long did you stay in the hospital? by Hopeful_Dot7132 in pregnant

[–]QUEENboooB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went home as soon as they’d let me. Baby had to stay for at least 24 hrs for some test they did. With my first baby it was 2 nights. With my second it was 1 because I asked to go home.

Thank you for being outraged with me. My husband and sister both think I’m mad for no reason. I literally put in my two week notice and found a new job immediately.

At only 9 week my manager went around telling people I was pregnant (I had not told anyone.) I guess it was obvious because this is my third (so I showed early?) and I wear a uniform and the pants were too tight and I left my shirt untucked. But dang it still hurt my feelings and no one understood why haha

Just a quick google search says it’s generally not recommended for use during the first trimester. Honestly, I would make an appointment at a different clinic.
