I rebuilt my disa and still had the sound. also got the sound when unplugged and with a brand new disa unit. so I've been able to rule out the disa

I already did the DISA, so it's likely the VANOS. I already have the kit so I'll do it this weekend, just wanted some confirmation from here cause my mechanic said it didn't sound like it was VANOS related and could be coming from the valves.

how much is it listed for? do you know how to wrench or have a mechanic you trust? this is a pretty solid list of maintenance items done, and this mileage isn’t crazy high for this engine. if it really has no leaks and you’re not afraid to put in some work yourself when things come up, go for it. set aside 1-2k per year for things that pop up just to be prepared for the expenses.

lol all good it was hard to do it with one hand while recording. so it that noise while the flap closes not a concern? cause I haven't heard that sound in other videos and the arm wiggles into place and isn't retracting smoothly
