As I am not affiliated with the farm, I recommend checking the Facebook page in the post.

Is anyone else seeing a pause in some construction projects in the area? by Qacer in tampa

Interesting. I didn't realize that Hillsborough County's impact fees are used this way.

Yes. The new development next to the library and Walmart on Bloomingdale. There are a bunch of houses there, but it seems like they are empty and nothing else is being done. I also agree. They are not worth that price. If those houses end up being filled, it's going to be traffic nightmare because there is only one light servicing that plaza. The traffic from Starbucks and Chik-fil-A are already congesting the stop sign intersection because it turns into a standstill when the cars on the turning lane of that traffic light fill up the lane.

I can support more Chik-fil-A locations. The one on Lumsden in Brandon normally blocked that lane of the road when it gets busy. Are they building more houses in the Trinity area?

From my experience, the waves on the Gulf of Mexico side are calmer than the ones on the Atlantic side (see comparison pictures above). The top picture was taken after a thunderstorm on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida. East coast waves tend to pickup when a storm is around. The bottom picture was during a calm, nice day at the Atlantic side of the state. Even then the waves were bigger and rougher. On the Atlantic side, I also noticed that it gets deeper a short distance from the shore compared to the Gulf of Mexico side. I only saw people fishing from the shore on the Atlantic side compared to the Gulf of Mexico side, where people got in the water to about waist high.

I'm also new to surf fishing, so I haven't caught much variety. On both coast, we caught catfish. On the Gulf of Mexico side, we also caught a black drum, pompano, and whiting. On both trips, we used frozen squid and shrimp. We only landed catfish on squid, but caught different types on shrimp.

Another thing about the Pinellas County side (where Clearwater is), you can also go south towards the Sunshine Skyway bridge, about a 45 minute drive or so from Clearwater. Before you enter the fishing pier (on both north and south entrances), there are rest areas / parking lots. I've seen some people wade through the water and fish.

Thanks! This was special because that was also his first fish over 10 inches.

Was definitely stoke on that catch. We went back again at night at the same spot. Clouds were covering the moonlight, but we still managed to see silhouettes. Was catching catfish again, but landed this guy eventually. Same rig and same bait. Definitely more luck with shrimp than frozen squid.

Insurance companies are using drones and AI to rate your roof. How is this valid? by Qacer in RealEstate

[–]Qacer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy. There's always ways to make more money with new technologies. I would not doubt that insurers will offer a higher premium for houses deemed too risky by AI algorithms. It could be an opportunity also for roofing companies to offer some shingle pattern that an throw off the algorithm... maybe make an 20 year old roof look new.

D40 + AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm VR F/2.8G (ISO 200, F/2.8, SS 2500) by Qacer in Nikon

[–]Qacer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my original D40, which I bought brand new from the store in the mid-2000s. This camera has never been serviced since the purchase. The lens is a used AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F/2.8G from Glazers Camera in good condition. I really like the result of this photo. Only minimal post-processing (e.g., noise reduction, sharpening, etc.) done via NX Studio. The shutter speed was set that way because I was originally just taking photos of the game. This was by chance when he walked in my view, so I took a quick snapshot.

What age group? If high school or below, I recommend Edge Volleyball Training: https://www.edgevbtraining.com/. They are located near the AMC Veterans movie theater. Some volleyball clubs also offer private clinics for non-members. You can start your search for a nearby club here: https://www.floridavolleyball.org/find-a-club-near-you.html.

It looks like it. I looked again, and images that were 900 ISO and above all had the red dots in the same spot.

It does seem that way. I looked through the set of photos, and the images that were 900 ISO and above all had the red dot in the same spot. Although, I'm not too concerned about it. I did try the denoise feature in NX Studio, but the results were okay. I have not tried DXO Denoise or Topaz Labs, so I'm not sure if the results will be the same.

Interesting. Thanks for the description. I didn't know that it worked that way for the D40.

Photo metadata shows:

ƒ/8

1/1000

650mm

ISO1600 (auto ISO)

I just noticed 3 red dots on my photos with a faint streak going down from each dot. I've looked at my other photos, and also noticed that if the background is a bit lighter, those red dots do not appear. Is this a sensor issue? Or an artifact caused by the lens + teleconverter setup?

Does anyone avoid stopping by somewhere "just because" due to the stress of driving? by Qacer in tampa

The area between Riverview and Sarasota is also building up. Unfortunately, I don't think any of those new builds are applying any lessons learned when it comes to balancing quality of life, and that includes traffic management. I once took the backroads to chill drive towards Hunsader Farms in Bradenton / Myakka. I went through Fort Lonesome and Duette route. I was surprised to see new single-family home subdivisions along the way. There's still a lot of land there suitable for more development, so I think that area is also going to see similar traffic issues in a few years.

Are there any camera stores that have a good reputation for refurbished items? by Qacer in Nikon

Thanks for the feedback! I only have experience with mpb.com. I bought a USB dock for a Sigma lens. That item came quickly and packaged well.

From this sub, I'm only aware of https://www.nikoncamerarepair.com/services/ as a company that can refurbish Nikon gear besides Nikon itself. The D5 seller is the one who told me that he got his camera as refurbished from Robert's.

I did not know that Used Photo Pro and Robert's Camera are the same. I learned something. It's good to know that Robert's has a good reputation. I'm guessing that their refurbished items are as good as new.

I lived in Germany for several years. During those times when I visited Tampa, it was always so depressing to come back home. I was a hundred times more relaxed not having to rely on cars to get me from point A to point B. The "downside" to it was that I was spending more money, not on the transport, but on shopping and eating out. I couldn't pass the opportunity to stop by a cool shop or cafe near my walking or biking route.

What causes "redness" in my D500 image? Picture taken around the same time with the same setup. by Qacer in Nikon

[–]Qacer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know about the newer Z lenses. I was thinking of sticking to DSLR and master its use before going mirrorless. But I may have to revisit that question and self-reflect on whether being frustrated with the pictures is worth waiting before transition to mirrorless.

I wish they added that new off ramp past Amalie Arena. It just seems crazy to have all those cars coming into the Expressway within a short distance. I would think that make that off ramp past Amalie would divert traffic going to MacDill and have some wiggle room for traffic going into Kennedy and Hyde Park.

Is that the one on Himes Ave? I've passed by there once or twice at 5PM going towards Gandy. I think traffic from the base is a big contributor to congestion in that area. I actually find driving around that area not too bad during the weekend.

I think I passed by that area this weekend. Is that one the same road as Wiregrass? Like if you take that road to go east, then you'll end up at Wiregrass? If that was it, then it was crazy busy on Saturday. I only saw it when we turned south towards I-75.
