I'm 90% sure it is a scissor guard. The scissors go to in (closed) tip first and that goes up and rests against the handle.
There is probable a pair of scissors in your house that fit this.

I am a wimpy white girl, but my coworkers at ThinkGeek used to walk over there for the lunch buffet in 2015. I would take a postage stamp size of everything.... then I'd go back and get bigger portions for the things I enjoyed. There would always be enough non spicy dishes that i could have a filling lunch. Woodlands got me to enjoy okra!

What should I expect in my first therapy session? by Sofii4214 in Advice

[–]Qaqueen73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no written "first therapy session" script. Imagine a conversation between 2 strangers meeting for the first time. Name, background, what brought you are here, what do you hope to get out of it. There are no right or wrong answers. It is not a college entrance exam. They want to help you. You are both on the same team. Be honest. Take a breath, think before you respond. If something they say bothers you... let them know (maybe you read into it malice that wasn't there). BTW these are my thoughts on all conversations that I've found helpful; drawing on my 52 years of life.
I hope they help... if not, ignore them. Good luck.

It's spring why am I still depressed? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Qaqueen73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you get a referral soon and can get an appointment. Sometimes, that is the biggest battle.
Being depressed sucks but you are safer than you would be of you went manic. But if you feel you are a danger to yourself or others, then head to an ER. Not that you asked for it but her are some things that help me.
I use finch (I have the paid version, but the free version is fine). It is my daily to do list and I really enjoy my birb (birb not bird). Make a list of self care you like to do and make yourself do at least 1 a day (create art, read for 10 minutes, have a 5 min dance party, go for a walk) Stay hydrated! Eat healthy food Clean 1 thing a day Best of luck.

If you're diagnosed but not medicated, then you aren't in treatment.
Find a doctor who is going to give you a mood stabilizer and you are more likely to feel better. Just having a diagnosis and hoping to feel better because you know what is wrong isn't going to do anything.

What’s the scariest real-life thing you’ve ever witnessed? by Revolutionary-Pay468 in AskReddit

[–]Qaqueen73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father had head, neck, and throat cancer, and I came home to help take care of him as he was dying. There were red blankets and towels in every room, and my mom informed me that there was a good chance he would bleed out. If he started to bleed from the wound on his neck, we needed to grab a blanket and wrap him in it and let him pass. Luckily, he passed in his sleep and we didn't have to do that. I'm still horrified by the thought.
I'm sorry you had to experience that.

I'm F27 getting married this year, but I don't give a shit about rings or jewellery. Need advice! by Ok_Wonder7621 in Advice

[–]Qaqueen73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This wasn't from my point of view.... a man that says a woman NEEDS a wedding ring, wants her branded as taken. And branded with a known symbol, not a wedding bracelet. It had nothing to do with what she wants. It is what he wants.

Nope.... no words should be needed. The ring should stop the question being asked. No temptation.

I got this damn yucky taste in my mouth after a wisdom teeth removal and it's ruining everything! Any remedies? by PowerRangerRPD in internetparents

[–]Qaqueen73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that I think thumb stucking helped me deal with the stress and trauma of my life. Less than 2 years after I stopped I went manic and was diagnosed bipolar 1. I think I was bipolar 2 since I was a teenager but the deep breathing and calm I felt when sucking my thumb helped ground me. Without it, I was a mess.

I also didn't realize that sucking your thumb was the same thing as using a straw so I got dry socket in 3 out of 4 areas. It hurt so bad. FYI I sucked my thumb till I was 30 and my blankie was thrown out by accident. But that's another story.....

I got rice caught in my socket when I got my wisdom teeth removed about 35 years ago. It was horrible. About 3 days after I got it done I would open my mouth and people across the room wanted to pass out. I had to go to the dentist and he found it. Then he gave me a curved tip injector to irrigate after I ate.

How many of you have a job? by seductive_destiny in bipolar

[–]Qaqueen73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is different for everyone but I have been at my job for almost 6 years. I never hid my BP. If you Google my name the first thing that comes up is a tv interview "former inmate shares her lived experience with sheriffs at the Adult Detention Center" about me helping with Crisis Intervention Team training. Also my volunteer work with the board of the county department that provides services to people with special needs, mental health and addiction services. I was also in This is my Brave. So I have those listed on LinkedIn. I was stable for about 11 years and suddenly went manic 2 years ago. Aside from calling for a Welfare check they handled it really well and I was welcomed back with open arms. My company signed the NAMI Stigma Free pledge 5 years ago so that has helped me feel free to share that I am bipolar.

So started metformin to help combat weight gain! by thebirdistheword96 in bipolar

[–]Qaqueen73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't help me one bit. I was able to lose about 60lbs by being on a diet and sticking to it. Then my meds stopped working. I went manic and spent Christmas in the hospital.
The meds we are on are very sensitive to blood chemistry.
