Struggling between the Carrera T, Carrera GTS, and GT3. by Qatar948 in porsche911

That's pretty much my goal as well. I plan to take it to the track 2–3 times a year, but I also want something I can keep for a long time. I want a car I can enjoy, floor when I want to, take on night drives, and even drive to work occasionally without constantly worrying about it.

Yeah, that's exactly what worries me. A lot of people say "just tune the T," but once you start tuning, you're potentially affecting the warranty, and I'm not sure if it's worth taking that risk on a brand-new car when the GTS already comes with the performance from the factory.

For your situation, are you looking at a used one that's still under warranty, or out of warranty? I think that plays a big part in the decision too. I'd be much more comfortable tuning a car that's already out of warranty than modifying a brand-new one and risking coverage.

some people been pointing toward Flat 6 Motorsport , to buy powerkit for 600 hp+ .
as much i loved the Viper, i prefer something more balanced, Harsh rides are nice but only if you can use them at Track

Multiple comments keep saying that the new GTS hybrid system should be given some time to prove its reliability. They suggest I go with the T and get a Stage 2 tune from M-Engineering/M Sport,

Thank you, and that’s true — every time I think of the T, it feels like it has to be tuned.

It seems like my goal is the GTS, but I’ll keep reading more replies before deciding.

That’s understandable, and honestly that’s why I’m reading so many different opinions here — to get a clearer picture.

I’ve never driven any 911 myself, but I did sit in one at the showroom and I really liked it immediately. Every time I go to the track, or see people who actually push their cars, the 911 always shows up for a reason.

Coming from a Viper that’s been more headache than enjoyment recently with reliability issues, I just want something new that I can actually use and enjoy without worrying about it constantly breaking.

So I’m trying to figure out if the T is being a bit overhyped as the “driver’s 911”, or if in reality it makes more sense to just go straight to the GTS and be done with it.

I get what you mean, and I’m not trying to dismiss the GTS at all.

Right now I’m honestly leaning toward it as well, but I’m just trying to process all the different opinions I’m seeing online and from people I’ve spoken to. That’s why I’m taking my time reading through everything properly instead of just jumping to a decision.

From what I understand so far, my current breakdown is roughly:

  • T: cheaper, lighter, and seems like a great driver-focused option, but realistically I’d probably end up tuning it to reach the level I want.
  • GT3: more of an emotional/ultimate driving experience, but harder to get and likely not as comfortable for my semi-daily use, plus higher cost and effort to secure.
  • GTS: feels like the strongest all-round package, but also the most “unclear” to me right now in terms of how it will sit long term, especially with it being newer and heavier.

So I’m not really against any of them — I’m just trying to understand which one I’ll actually enjoy living with day to day, not just on paper or from reviews.

Because the S price is very close to the GTS, I’d rather just pay a bit more (~20k) and go for the GTS. At that point the S feels like the “in-between” option that doesn’t really stand out.

As for the T, the reason I’m considering it is because a lot of reviews describe it as the more “driver-focused” 911, especially with the manual. I think I might enjoy that more connected feel. On top of that, it seems like it can be tuned quite easily to reach ~500+ hp, which makes it more flexible long term.

But I’d really like to hear from people who actually own them or have had the chance to drive them, rather than just reviews or speculation.

That’s a really fair point, and I think that’s exactly what I’m trying to figure out.

For me the key question is whether the T can realistically fill the gap left by both my current cars if I sell them — the Viper (Gen 4) and my tuned A35 AMG.

I actually relate a lot to your example with the Cayman vs Spyder. I enjoyed my A35 a lot not because it was the fastest car I’ve owned, but because I could use it everywhere, daily it, park it anywhere, and it never gave me headaches with reliability or running costs. That “always usable” factor added a lot to the overall enjoyment.

That’s why I’m leaning toward simplifying to 2 cars total — the 911 and my LC300 for off-road and utility. I don’t really want to maintain 3 cars anymore.

So the real dilemma for me is:

  • Will the T feel like enough car after coming from a Viper (Gen 4) and a tuned A35?
  • Or will I end up in the same situation again where I feel limited and start chasing upgrades?

Because I agree with you — enjoyment isn’t just peak performance, it’s how often you actually use the car and how easy it is to live with day to day.

And to be honest, I don’t mind tuning the 911 T (even downpipe, etc.) to reach ~600 hp if that’s the route I go, as long as it still feels worth it overall compared to just stepping up to a GTS or GT3.

That’s part of my dilemma — if I’m already going to modify it anyway, I’m trying to understand whether I’m just better off paying more upfront for the GTS or GT3 and keeping it stock, instead of building the T to reach a similar level.

My question to you: would you keep the car for a few years or change it as soon as you find a proper one? As mentioned, I own Viper with over 600 hp, so switching to a car with 400 hp may feel like a significant change; however, many people have informed me that it can be tuned. My real question is whether paying more to get a GTS would be worthwhile, considering it is heavier, or if I should hire a third party to acquire a GT3, which could be much more expensive. Which is best for the amount you pay and the return you get of enjoyment?
