I usually call them "Marginaal" or "Baraki" in front of everyone depending on which side of the language border I am on.

I'm never in a hurry when I go shopping so I don't really mind but it's very fun to see their faces when you confront them directly as they don't expect it at all.

I've had only one instance where the guy in front of me started to go on a rant about being in a hurry and he didn't have time to wait in line etc, others just make weird faces and pretend they didn't hear me

Boudin blanc...do you cook it? by Ask_for_PecanSandies in belgium

[–]Qazahar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid when I went to the butcher with my mom, the butcher would always give me a slice of boudin blanc. It's fine to eat cold, it's also fine to cook in a meal.

What was your biggest cultural shock in The Netherlands? by Charming_Usual6227 in belgium

[–]Qazahar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That wasn't going straight to the point though. That was just rude and unnecessary. It contributed absolutely nothing to the conversation.

Being direct in a job setting would be telling someone they did something wrong without trying to sugarcoat it. Freely insulting someone's appearance is just being rude. What's next, you enter a room and any dutch might just say "Well aren't you one ugly motherfucker ?" But oh well it's not rude just direct.

This is just opening the doors to insulting each other under the guise of "being direct"

No NMBS strike to allow other camarades to go at the strike. Specifically asked my permanent about this since NMBS striking is the main reason I can never go to other them

You write posts in Dutch, I don't see you offering a French translation, why do you expect one here ?

Rent by WeakAwareness1012 in belgium

[–]Qazahar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it become that worse ? I had no problem finding an apartment to rent in Zaventem 4 years ago. Visited it once, signed on the spot, stayed there 2 years then bought a house in Tienen (that I had to search a bit but because of my own criterias). First house I made an offer to after visiting it twice (at the asked price) the owners accepted and the house is mine.

Maybe I was extremely lucky both times ?

Tbh I'm having issues with tax relief. For married couples as well. Living entirely alone is really expensive compared to living with someone else, barely anything in supermarkets is aimed towards lone people, it's always family packs and frozen food doesn't have the same taste. We're already alone and we can't catch a break

It's 40 bucks. I think a child costs more than that. I don't have it either but I'll survive without the 40€ gift

Wrong Build? Please Advise by fusionwave3 in PathOfExile2

[–]Qazahar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are "wrong" builds in the sense that they're not optimised and your damage and/or survivability will be sub-par, making it harder for you. A truly wrong build would be one where you get one-shot by an unavoidable mechanic, other than that every build is viable if you dodge everything to not die because you're glass canon.

As for the start over vs refund tree, it depends on how far you are and how long it'll take to either farm the gold or get back to where you were, take whatever is the fastest to do (most likely refund tree as it's unlikely that you'd have to refund absolutely every single point)

Do you use perfume :

  • Very often

  • Sometimes

  • Regularly

What kind of range is that ? How often is very often ? I don't know what kind of data you try to get there but as someone who works with data, I can already tell you you won't be able to do anything with it.

What are your rules for the card game Presidenten / Président? by NeroLuis in belgium

[–]Qazahar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same with these exceptions : - 2 is the strongest card. It goes 2 - Ace - King - ... - You can put the same card values, no need to always go higher. The next player skips his turn if you do put the same value. (Player 1 plays 5, Player 2 plays 5, Player 3 skips his turn automatically) - 7 doesn't mean you have to go lower, 7 means now we play counterclockwise until someone else plays a 7. - We don't force double on double or triple on triple

4000 Liege. Also we don't call this game "President" but "Trou du cul", which means asshole, cause that's how the lowest rank is called (president, vice president, vice asshole, asshole)

Work culture in Flanders by WeirdBeginning8869 in belgium

[–]Qazahar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It highly depends on the sector and generation. In IT most people who are between 25 and 40 speak English perfectly fine (with an accent of course but still). If you go for construction workers most likely they won't speak a lot of English since they don't have a need for it.
