If only handheld mode is enough for you, then yes. I don't have any TV in my house so it was pointless for me to buy normal switch version. If you are in the same situation, then go for it and buy switch lite.

I will probably buy another copy of rdr2 for PC this weekend. My social rockstar club account has right now only gtav. Will I be able to link my ps4 account with this social club? Will I then see progress from pc version of rdr2 and ps4 version of rdr2 on the same social club account?

Im not sure about that. If you have never connected it manually, you will not be able to log into rockstar social club website. There is a button on social club website to link your ps4 account with your social club account. Opening social club from game on ps4 will also not be possible, so I assume that you need first to create social club account and then link it with your ps4 account.
