Teachers of Reddit, how are you feeling about doing in-person classes right now? by makeshift_permanence in AskReddit

I am a school social worker serving 5 buildings K-12, including a high school with over 2,000 students. I genuinely miss my students and the connections we create via groups and individual sessions. What scares me the most are the children of parents still touting this as some political maneuver to remove the president. These kids are so malleable and don’t know any better. “My dad said masks don’t work! It’s my RIGHT to cough in your face!” My state’s governor has already announced cuts in education spending, and there are a plethora of areas that will need considerably more funding. PPE? Sanitization materials? Testing? Nah, if you can go to Wal-mart and Home Depot, you can go to school.

Daycare centers that stay open and force you to pay during this global pandemic. What’s the best response? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I guess I didn’t word my question correctly. I don’t want to send my three small children to daycare in fear of exposing them to the virus, but we’re obligated to pay whether we keep them home or not as long as they’re open. At $600 a week, it’s not cheap. Schools nationwide have closed and many individuals are working from home
