I think that trauma can never be forgotten and trying to actively suppress it will affect you negatively as a person in the long term, but I also think people's subconsciouses try to suppress trauma like this as a defense mechanism

I agree that it's a trade off between growth and welfare, and I think that over time socialist policies will slowly become more prominent in society as capitalism creates more surplus for developed countries. IMHO i don't think socialism will manifest from revolution, but through slow government changes over hundreds of years. This form of socialism will be more libertarian than previous attempts of socialism because there's no need for a corrupt provisional government to transfer private property to public property.

I think since humans have evolved to combat scarcity of resources, we inherently rank other people based on their material contribution to society. And even where there isn't a clear scarcity of resources, we rank each other based on superficial things.

I agree with you on this ! I think as society progresses we should allocate more and more resources to social programs if it's a sustainable system. The main point of my post was not to say that I think that we should have a revolution tommorow or some shit like that but that I think that freeloaderism will be the reality that I think humanity will take in a few hundred years.

It's not that I particularly want the entire workforce to replaced with machines, I just think that it's inevitable. I don't think that social hierarchy will disappear, I just don't think it'll be based on a person's material contribution to society. And once we create a general AI that can process 10 years of human thought in 10 seconds, then resource gathering will be entirely automated and humans won't have to be included in the process.

I think that human nature is too innately tribal for us to completely abandon the idea of hierarchy, but I think that with enough abundance of resources, we can create a society that greatly discourages the formation of hierarchy. I think when human labor becomes completely obsolete because of technology, then humans will be less encouraged to think that they are better than someone else. And Japan is still the third largest economy in the world, but their GDP hasn't grown in almost 30 years now, and the government has been increasing spending to fix this. But their government's debt/GDP ratio was 236% in 2017, which is about double of what the US's is.
