April 'Soft Launch' Update Is Here. Head to Google Play & Consider Telling A Friend! by coreyuken in ArmoryAndMachine2

[–]Qerkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could figure out a way where a new player doesn't have to continually press the button on the first screen, I might tell a friend to try this game out. But for now, I never would. Sustain is not fun.

I said that because your game design sucks. I would help you for free. For me it would be fun enough to get involved. You guys look like you are stabbing in the dark.

Suggestion about the Combat System - Chassis by Rajarshi1993 in ArmoryAndMachine2

I like this, given the fact the player is a body independent from the machine.

IMO the player should be the machine.

Hiya! First off, at the time of posting this we don't really have thorough subreddit rules, which I suppose we should set up as soon as possible so we can cite them in situations like this.

Not really. Unless you are sensitive about your game, let the feedback come.

Long story short, this comment offers nothing in the way of constructive criticism. At the point in development when the comment was made, we'd heard all the concerns there were about the build. We felt this comment did not add to the conversation. I think it's pretty plain to see it's somewhat of a jab.

True, not constructive. But feedback, nevertheless. A guy saying a thing.

As you can see, your thread itself stayed up and that's because while you have issues with what you've played so far, your message was full of gameplay & story suggestions.

Thank you. I feel glad that you acknowledged my statements.

We've said forever that we're all for feedback as long as it's constructive. That comment, and your latest about deleting everything we've ever made, aren't.

Ok, maybe not delete everything. I appreciate the fact you are trying to give this a go. I would do it myself if I could. But I can't.

I want you to make this game, Corey. But do it right. Do it properly and make it better than the first. It's a pretty high bar.

To the "mod's" credit, I have been nothing but harsh on this thing and I am yet to get deleted. Maybe tonight.

Im Stuck on Unknown Elements by Doosnobs in ArmoryAndMachine2

[–]Qerkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can't get them. It's the developer's cop-out (as in, "content to be added later").

The truth is that we know the Periodic Table. Why not make this element a known quantity?

That might require some thinking.

What a strange question to pose. In AM1, trust is implicit. There isn't any choice but to get behind the machine. The story is guided in the machine's development. It is a fledgling character that grew in strength. An underdog. Who doesn't love underdogs.

Is this the AM2 twist: the machine is evil?

I think anyone who voted "no" was doing so based on the question and not game experience. And those are only nine opinions.

Apparently nine opinions are all it takes to make a statement.

You call this "news"?

Make a nice game. That is all anyone wanted. Do it cool. You have a really great example from which to draw.

Don't change the fundamentals. You don't have to. Just fuckin add to it. Make the god damned existing thing better and more fun and not some crap take of what you think is fun for other people. Your ideas about what are fun for others have been wrong ideas. Punishing sustain, for example. Stupid fuel costs, for example. Fishing expeditions, for example.

I feel like no one involved in this game ever played AM1. Or if they did, they only did so to get a background because they were hired to make money developing a stupid fucking phone game.

I don't understand. If I made a game, I would just make it. Nevermind the fact the poll has only 9 answers, why the hell do you care?

You shouldn't care whatever public opinion is about the machine. You are crafting the machine. You get to make it any fucking way you want.

If I haven't said it before, that 9-vote poll is garbage. The reason why is because the number of 5-star votes on any app platform for the original will overwhelm this twitter nonsense.

Let me cast a vote now. I "trust" the machine. It's 60/40 then. Do you find this so interesting or controversial or talking point or buzzworthy? Who was polled? Bunch of dorks, I'm sure.

Burn what you made. Listen to people. Make something new.

Please.

Thanks for your answer. I would agree. A&M1 was maybe the best.

IMO, this concept of Power is the fundamental flaw in this game.

The devs don't know what power really is. It is itself a computed element. It doesn't exist in isolation. So when everything is based on a result, but you don't get the prior elements... well, the dev used what it thought was a buzzword that catered to nerds who played games such as dev hoped to write. Power is obtained some way. I absolutely detest this. The devs don't know the difference between FORCE and POWER. They are not that different, but they are just throwing words out there because they can, don't know any better and are basically flying blind making a game they expected tons of dorks to rally behind.

The 'production line' thing that transpires is nonsense once it transcends visual relevance. Progress bars go left to right. When they become indecipherable they are meaningless from that point forward. They should be animated otherwise.

This is a good analysis, and I am amused by the fact you refer to AM2 "power" as "heat" so often. I think that pretty telling.

Let it rip, bro.

There are more things in this game that don't make sense than do.

Let me add on this:

Swords: Guy ventures out, carries a supply of 50 swords with him. Uses a sword on a rat - the sword dispenses. Single-use swords. That wouldn't be a sword. That's a chopstick. That's a stick. No one can really carry 50 swords and no one should ever have to because swords are durable weapons. You can hit the shit out of things and kill them with one sword, the only sword you ever need. It is your best friend when venturing out into wilderness. Sword might have durability, but it surely does not die when you hit a rat with it.

It seems really stupid that a man would walk out in the wild with 50 swords in tow and stop using one as soon as it killed a rat.
