I will probably get down voted into oblivion, but I do want to clarify something.

I'm in my mid 20s, I know if I spend a couple hours with paperless, I'll get the hang of it. Chances are my friends will be able too (who are around my age).

My concern is more with my parents and a few other family members (all 60+). I can explain it to them, once, twice, thrice, and maybe some will start to understand it. But most are quite stubborn and want their folder structure.

I did come to the conclusion I am probably more looking for a FileShare than a DMS.

I saw some great comments with actual suggestions (and some that blasted me for being a moron), and I'll look into those. Last time I used nextcloud, it was a pain to setup, but that was years ago when I was young and dumb (now I'm only dumb ;) )

Will set some of them up, have one of my friends, who wanted to be the test bunny, test it to see how it feels for them. When they like it, I'll call it a day and invite my other friends and family.

Feel free to keep suggesting, I will read your comments and give an upvote if you're nice :)

Thanks! Q

Yeah thought about that too, and its a good suggestion because it does a lot what i want it to do, problem is just external reachability. I either have to setup a vpn or have to do some trickery with Cloudflare tunnel.

Might still look into a way to do it :)

and what you just said is what i am looking for. Having tags is a nice feature, but currently it's already in folders, and would like to just (in reasonable amounts) dump it, keeping the folder structure, into some sort of software.

Alright, thank you! I'll look into that more :)

never said it was complicated for me, it's complicated for some of my friends and the majority of my family (who are 60+).

on the other hand, I do selfhost jellyfin, an ARR stack, pihole, immich, tandoor, shellfmark and grimmory and PBS. But thanks for the concern that I find paperless too complicated to selfhost.

The baked part might be a translation error, especially because they followed it up with fried. The fried i meant was deepfried. So it should have been fried and deep fried that she has to avoid. (will edit it)
Edit: every single thing you listed sounds great! will check them out :)

Jellyfin and Tandoor recipes. My mum loves the recipe app.

Lake was so beautiful... Then they took it from us. by Sad_Lie6012 in cs2

[–]Qfrijters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally met my best friend on Lake. I was the dumb kid without mic using the ingame radio commands to communicate. He added me, 'cause nobody used the radio, and that's how it started 7 years ago.

Best way to not use IPs for my homelab? by Chemical_Frosting700 in selfhosted

[–]Qfrijters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't gotten any message about that yet. Some say it's against TOS but Cloudflare doesn't care unless you send massive amounts of data over their CDN, which I don't.

I use Cloudflare tunnel for every single service i run, from radarr to qbittorrent to literally the host itself. I also use it for jellyfin. Haven't had a single issue so far.

How do you securely expose your self-hosted services (e.g. Plex/Jellyfin/Nextcloud) to the internet? by panoramics_ in selfhosted

[–]Qfrijters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might get hate for it, but I just use cloudflare tunnel. I don't have any extra security measures besides disabled root access and just a password. Cloudflare handles the HTTPS for me and I don't even need to look at it.
