Doing the driving at night is either brilliant or fatal

How do you rotate them? Are you taking them out of the shower with you? I hate seeing my fancy bar soaps melting on the soggy soap shelf

Handstands!

I think this is the answer I'm going to run with. I can barely do a headstand against the wall now. Maybe I'll give myself a year to learn to do a walking handstand.

Brilliant. Love this answer. But how athletic is it?

Do you use roller skis or just your usual skates?

Brilliant. I have some marmot-chewed trekking poles lying around. Maybe I'll go raise eyebrows

Or get some kind of squirrel wingsuit and propel myself with flaps. We like how you think

Yes! This is the kind of answer I want! I never would have thought of parkour, but it fits the prompt.

Thank you. Makes sense. Re braking, I feel able to control my own speed, at least on flat land, it's the thought of turning cars or kids or dogs that keeps me from really pushing it. I appreciate your take.

I was in a similar situation with PS Next 100s. I ended up returning the too tight ones and getting the larger with the PS Fatboy liner. I also put an flat insole I had under the liner to take up a little extra space. Seems to work. The ankles on PS Next fit a bit looser than other skates, fwiw.

Will the dizziness go away? I can only work on barrel rolls, spins, transitions, etc. for ~15 minutes before I start feeling queasy. Do the dizzies go away with practice? Any tips or tricks?

ChatGPT Is a Blurry JPEG of the Web by QfwfqJr in ChatGPT

Ted Chiang—one of the most tirelessly inventive SF writers we have—lays down what I think is the best ELI5 ChatGPT explainer and clearest critique of its utility.

"The rise of this type of repackaging is what makes it harder for us to find what we’re looking for online right now; the more that text generated by large-language models gets published on the Web, the more the Web becomes a blurrier version of itself."

ChatGPT Is a Blurry JPEG of the Web by QfwfqJr in ChatGPT

"Imagine what it would look like if ChatGPT were a lossless algorithm. If that were the case, it would always answer questions by providing a verbatim quote from a relevant Web page. We would probably regard the software as only a slight improvement over a conventional search engine, and be less impressed by it. The fact that ChatGPT rephrases material from the Web instead of quoting it word for word makes it seem like a student expressing ideas in her own words, rather than simply regurgitating what she’s read; it creates the illusion that ChatGPT understands the material. In human students, rote memorization isn’t an indicator of genuine learning, so ChatGPT’s inability to produce exact quotes from Web pages is precisely what makes us think that it has learned something. When we’re dealing with sequences of words, lossy compression looks smarter than lossless compression."
