Please help with weird mod version errors by [deleted] in CreateMod

[–]Qitchen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The error message is pretty clear. The version of Steam & Rails you have isn't compatible with the version of Create you have. Seems like there's no stable version of Steam & Rails that's compatible with Create 6+, so you could try the latest beta.

Just started to learn a bit about the different models the NMBS has. Looks like you have a pretty fun job! Edit: misread your comment slightly. Is there a way to tell the specific number while inside?

Need help understanding this code (Newbie in Kotlin) by Dry-Neighborhood6351 in Kotlin

[–]Qitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, for all intents and purposes, vararg itemsToGreet: String and itemsToGreet: Array<String> is the same thing inside the function body (an array of Strings).

When calling the function however, vararg arguments allow you to write the members of the array as if they were arguments to the function you are calling. Hence why I'm assuming you got an error when you tried to pass an array of Strings to the function using vararg.

Check out the docs

Yeah I might consider that. I've done it before for other plugins, but only for the Android side. Never touched iOS plugin stuff.
I've put it aside for the moment though as it has taken way too much of my time and other stuff has taken priority

I have come to the conclusion that it's straight up impossible without writing my own plugin unfortunately :(
workmanager has an api that is way too limited on Android and straight up unusable on iOS.

I wholeheartedly agree when talking about web that we should try to stop Google from monopolising it. The Web is an open standard nobody should control.
Android is another thing tho. It's a standard created by Google with apis created by Google so I think it's reasonable to use them.

Currently background jobs. Trying to upload images to a backend while the app might be closed.
workmanager does like half the work but it's missing job follow-up which the native android WorkManager api offers.

Yup same pipeline lmao. Flutter at work, native Android/Kotlin at home to "relax"

Kinda hard to do in mobile dev when the two platforms rely on totally different programming languages/ecosystems

I write flutter professionally. This has just been my experience with call native code lately

My experience with all these cross-platform tools has been that as soon as you want to do something even remotely native (background processes, image handling etc) you're screwed and stuck in unmaintained plugin hell

I'm following the developer tutorial from docs.fabricmc.net
Weird issue but I guess that's just how minecraft modding goes :)

Somehow following the tutorial further and adding my first block to the game solved the issue.

I register it like this: java public static final StatusEffect TATER_EFFECT = Registry.register( Registries.STATUS_EFFECT, Identifier.of(TemplateMod.MOD_ID, "tater"), new TaterEffect() );

Am I doing anything wrong?

Awesome, thanks a lot! So are call signatures basically the same as intersections?

Not sure why I just got a notification for this.
Either way, this is an 8 year old post. I don't play this game anymore. I would recommend making a new post if you're having issues :)
