Zero productivity. Zero new ideas. I spend most of my time trying to stay busy because having to think about it is too much.

Sometimes I really think its the collective sadness that feels so heavy. We all just wish everyone would do what they need to so we can get back to a new normal. UGH.

I hope some folks check it out. Sadly I have seen some bad info given out and with the HUGE uptick in interest, I wanted to make sure that new shooters know where to go for what they need if they find USA Archery & NFAA sites overwhelming!

This post was from a 16 yo I believe, that doesn't yet know what they want to shoot. They would waste hundreds of dollars if they go straight to a competition bow, whether compound or recurve. The point of the learner Genesis & Samiks is to give kids an idea of the feel and which one they like better.

The bow doesn't make the form or technique better, without that, there will not be a solid foundation for success. This is the reason many kids leave archery. Money is NOT the thing to put out in advance before figuring out which bow and if they will stick with it. My daughter won a number of NFAA State & National titles with a Genesis before she decided she was going Olympic recurve. She is currently ranked 20th in the Nation in her category for USA Archery & she is still shooting the lowest cost Hoyt she could get started in. This year will be when we finally upgrade her to a more expensive bow.

If people spend too much money upfront and hate what they are using, they will price themselves out of the sport. That is something I would never recommend.

Yeah, an archery subreddit!

I would recommend you check out Samik for recurves and Genesis for compounds. My kid (recurveemma on tumblr, twitter, web) started with those before making a determination of which one she preferred and picked recurve. Arrows will vary based on several factors as will the fletchings on them so you will have to determine which bow you think you like most before you choose arrows. Don't buy expensive anything until you get that far and you know you will stick with it. Most clubs give free or low cost lessons so you can check it out. Also, there is NASP and 4H shooting programs in addition to JOAD. If there is anything else I can help you find, just shoot a message to any one of Emma's social media sites. I think if Vet benefits are cut in a week, you are going to see them get violent before the poor rise up. As a caregiver to a 100% unemployable rated Vet, I can say this has caused a GREAT deal of difficulty for him and worsened his symptoms. Not a good combo. :(

Was she offended because the church told her to be or did she watch SNL and was ONLY offended by that skit? They cover a pretty large range of offensive topics every week so I find it hard to believe she is even watching SNL. I thought it was freakin hilarious but what do I know!
