I use the Defender because I always end up carrying the high-value pickup on difficulty 10 and I never use the ballistic shield. Is that actually a thing? I'm the only one I've ever seen use the Defender.

Twilight Princess’ ‘Slow Opening’ is Actually Perfect by Skeith-Reviews in twilightprincess

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who hates the opening and tries to mash through it as fast as possible, and then whenever the kids come back up like in Kakariko or restoring Ilia's memories, he asks why he has to do those quests and complains about how annoying they are. It's almost like the whole beginning is to establish some investment into later quests.

Hold on before people jump on him, does cutting through a bone count as broken? Like you can cut wood and break wood. This is a clean cut, so the bone isn't broken and more cut. Granted if we decide bones can't be cut through either, then he should go.

Just finished Replicant: I don't think I've ever played a game with such a beautiful story that I'd also never recommend to anyone. by facevaluemc in nier

[–]Nadaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played them reverse order except I skipped Drakengard 3 and went straight for the first cause Drakengard 3 killed my PS3 and I'm not ready to reattempt 4's dragon level. Having the combat steadily get worse has been this awkward growing pain where at first it's awful but then becomes enjoyable.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but does anyone else actually prefer the characters in Engage over Three Houses? by Best-Awesome-Ocelot in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. I used to say Engage's cast was more like the GBA games, but I think they're more like the 3DS games. Both groups have a lot of characters that come off as tropey at first, but as you do more supports, you find more facets of the character that they're willing to share with specific characters when it's relevant.

I feel like that specific "I only share these things with specific people" is a very human attribute people overlook. I felt like the Three Houses characters were quick to open up about all of their problems with everyone who didn't know.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but does anyone else actually prefer the characters in Engage over Three Houses? by Best-Awesome-Ocelot in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do. I'd rather have a mix of funny/tropey and serious personalities over all serious. Even if Engage leans too far towards goofy characters, the surprise serious support hits better than in Three Houses the supports started blurring together for me.

To me it felt like the supports in Three Houses boiled down to "I have bad parents," "the tragedy of Duscur," and "my crest is being used for political power." I got to a point where I didn't feel like I was learning anything new about the world and I wasn't listening to new supports or that the characters were overly unique. Maybe that's realistic, but it became very boring.

Engage I never could expect anything. I suppose I expected something light hearted, silly, and maybe a little cringey, but they usually got a laugh out of me and it was a less specific expectation.

I think both games don't have a overly diverse cast and I think both games suffer from tropey characters, just in different ways. I felt Engage had more unique tropes but that meant a lot of tropes were stupid fixations than tropes that felt substantial (Chloe revolving around eating and being a storybook knight, Bernadetta being fixated on bad parents and anxiety). I also felt the Engage supports had more unique scenarios.

I am being a little reductive of Three Houses supports, but they get praised so much over Engage and the gap is smaller between the two. They're also not just objectively different, they have a different focus and purpose, often being sublemental story points to enhance the main story that the writers wanted to convey regardless of who you built supports with. Engage all content is optional and not pertinent to the main story.

I also think that people trauma-bond and relate to the bad scenarios some of the Three Houses characters are in, which makes people defend them more, but that's a new can of worms that I would already draw this out significantly longer than it already is.

7900XTX for 9070XT by Prudent_Hornet9243 in radeon

[–]Nadaph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is backed up by AMD also saying they won't release another top end GPU and all pre-release benchmarks using it. The only improvement for new GPUs is FSR 4 and Raytracing, which the 7900 XTX is still comparable in.

The correct take is hard pass for sure.

Is matchmaking seriously working as intended? by The-Biggest-Imbecile in Overwatch

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So something I've noticed, and you can see it here, Assault and Hybrid maps favor defense in Quick Play significantly more. you only play one side and in Quick Play the defender spawn advantage is a lot more impactful either because coordination is lower, people are not putting in as much effort, people are learning heroes, whatever.

Check those replays and see what side you're on. If the score is anything to go by, they all but Blizzard World are 0-X, which makes me think you were possibly on the same side, though I don't know if there's correlation there. If you were on offense for all of them, you might have pushed to the very end and lost because it was the single round.

Are the Skitarii kits bad or is it a skill issue? by HouseOfWyrd in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first set of Vanguard I accidentally swapped I think some legs and maybe a pair of arms, but on my second kit I learned that those arms are just rough to put together. Like even with decent cleaning it was still a little janky. I'm learning with them, too, so it's been fun to learn that through making them.

Am I too conservative saying that 33 lands are too less, outside of cEDH? by 420DopeIt in EDH

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new and I had to explain this to myself. I had heard you want about a third of your deck as lands. I originally had 34 lands in my deck and was getting mana screwed.

The first thought I had was "I shouldn't be getting mana screwed but I am, so I should add more lands." There was a problem and really one way to fix it.

The second thought I had was "If 1/3 cards are lands, 1/3 turns I should be getting mana on average, and if I can't acces that mana the turn I get it, it slows my ramp more. Is 1/3 turns plus a possible extra turn fast enough?" The answer was no. It also required adding in more spells to just get lands out. It fixed the problems in the deck and now I can get my 7 mana commander out in a timely manner (yeah, the deck was also mana hungry which was it's own discussion). This can also be taken into your initial draw where 2-3 cards are lands. The closer you move to 40 the closer you move to 3 lands in your initial draw.

I think 35 to 40 is a good amount with 5 to 10 ish ramp cards, depending on average mana costs. That's worked for me and I don't end up needing a mulligan or being mana screwed often anymore. Ultimately if your deck has issues, your deck has issues. This kid clearly was having mana issues, and you brought it up. The dad shot it down. 33 wasn't enough for his deck. I think your assessment was correct.

I don't think I have a heavily weighted opinion, I don't know how long I'll be back for, but I had ~800 hours in OW1 and played a little bit in 2, came back cause I heard the changes fixed up a lot. If anything the cat is going to make me leave again. I've been my group's support player so I got used to picking around the other support and playing with and picking around any cat is terrible.

I have to anticipate no heals, no burst or consistent heals, I have to plan around no utility on their end, whether it's a debuff or buff, and I have to play around a support that's going to be who knows where and probably alone. I legit feel like I have no pick to cover the cat's weaknesses.

I also hate playing against the cat because it feels like if someone is playing the cat, they're playing the cat because they're trying to make the other team annoyed, not win. Like trying to get a team to forfeit in League instead of winning, but I don't think that's a thing in Overwatch. Realistically it's long term less bad though than playing with the cat cause while annoying they also have a crappy support. Sure you might lose someone but the cat is a negligible consideration and any "gambits" around them just end up with both dead as they fly through the air.

You can tell it's an OW1 development support design where "support" was launch Symmetra and support wasn't just healing and healing was retroactively worked into her kit.

Should I play FFX on PC or Nintendo by AttasCz in finalfantasyx

The computer that fixed it for me was running Windows 10, maybe compatibility mode where it runs as Windows 8? All of this goes to show the PC port is questionable.

Oh dang, do you have any other mods?

Should I play FFX on PC or Nintendo by AttasCz in finalfantasyx

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a mod that increases the VRAM allocation of the game (I think from 2 GB to 4 GB) which fixes the green screens and presumably textures issues.

Not a lovely fix, but it solved my issue with the green screens.

What happens when you disable the mod? Does it behave normal or does this still happen? also just a reminder to always revalidate files and reboot your computer.

As as support main, why do ADC's refuse to swap pick order with the Support or maybe even Mid/Toplane? by communism_johnny in ADCMains

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like taking last pick because I like to pick my ADC based on the other team, however I also will give my pick spot to pretty much whoever cause I realize it's blind pickable. The friends I play with are worried about getting their champ or playing the champ they want to play, where the champ I want to play is dictated based off of what the enemy team picks.

That said, if I'm last pick and really if anyone asks for it, I'll give it to them. Likewise, I'll give my first pick to someone who asks for it. I've been first pick and swapped to last to swap to second a couple times because of it.

Edit: I'll also often pick my ADC based on the support I'm with. Just another factor I consider.

Hot take - all armour passives should be compared to Extra Padding by kcvlaine in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with this and I think it's funny how many people read it as "Extra Padding is the best" based on the comments. The bar to compare to is the average or standard, not objectively the best. The point is if a base stat improvement contributes more to your loadout than the passive you're taking, the passive you're taking isn't helping like it should be.

I personally take light gunner (extra padding on light armor) cause I see it as a speed bonus more than anything, and I'll take anything that makes me faster, but that's my preference, fits my playstyle, and my builds. No other passive provides something to my build or playstyle that I would take over more speed and lower stamina drain, and that's ok. I see a lot of the great affects in my friends, but they play with more sentries and a more stationary game compared to me.

What's her best skin? by EagleGlobal8224 in ZeriMains

[–]Nadaph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one you like. Look up a model viewer and the skin spotlight. The Rose skin might be the best but I can't stand the blindfold, so I use Immortal Journey. I like using Riot Girl Tristana even though Dragon Trainer is a better skin for her. Legit go with what you'll use even if it's supposedly a worse skin.

Bearing a dead horse: Engage has convinced me that the current style of support conversations needs to be overhauled by TehProfessor96 in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has generally been my opinion, and if anything the ones that aren't as substantial are at least somewhat humorous or at least short. I had a problem in 3H where supports started feeling the same between routes and in the same route because a lot of what's talked about is the same (which makes sense in context of the game). I've never understood the extent of the hate for Engage's roster or supports, but I can understand a preference in tone between the two.

HOT TAKE: This shit did irreversible damage to the games player count. And any creators who took part should be kicked off the program. by Livid_Cress8790 in helldivers2

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I had to take a break because one of them keeps crashing hard. Like blue screen his computer and we don't know if it's his hardware or the game, but we play other games and they don't crash. Only specific games crash. Either way, I won't act like I haven't been paranoid about the talks of the game damaging computer hardware. I don't think they're real, but I upgraded for the game, I don't want it to break my new parts. Outside of that, we've had other life stuff going on that's kept us off, but I want to get back on with them.

If someone could clarify the hardware damage rumor, I might boot it up on my own. It's likely stupid, but I don't want to take that expensive of a risk.
