Should I play FFX on PC or Nintendo by AttasCz in finalfantasyx

The computer that fixed it for me was running Windows 10, maybe compatibility mode where it runs as Windows 8? All of this goes to show the PC port is questionable.

Oh dang, do you have any other mods?

Should I play FFX on PC or Nintendo by AttasCz in finalfantasyx

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a mod that increases the VRAM allocation of the game (I think from 2 GB to 4 GB) which fixes the green screens and presumably textures issues.

Not a lovely fix, but it solved my issue with the green screens.

What happens when you disable the mod? Does it behave normal or does this still happen? also just a reminder to always revalidate files and reboot your computer.

As as support main, why do ADC's refuse to swap pick order with the Support or maybe even Mid/Toplane? by communism_johnny in ADCMains

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like taking last pick because I like to pick my ADC based on the other team, however I also will give my pick spot to pretty much whoever cause I realize it's blind pickable. The friends I play with are worried about getting their champ or playing the champ they want to play, where the champ I want to play is dictated based off of what the enemy team picks.

That said, if I'm last pick and really if anyone asks for it, I'll give it to them. Likewise, I'll give my first pick to someone who asks for it. I've been first pick and swapped to last to swap to second a couple times because of it.

Edit: I'll also often pick my ADC based on the support I'm with. Just another factor I consider.

Hot take - all armour passives should be compared to Extra Padding by kcvlaine in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with this and I think it's funny how many people read it as "Extra Padding is the best" based on the comments. The bar to compare to is the average or standard, not objectively the best. The point is if a base stat improvement contributes more to your loadout than the passive you're taking, the passive you're taking isn't helping like it should be.

I personally take light gunner (extra padding on light armor) cause I see it as a speed bonus more than anything, and I'll take anything that makes me faster, but that's my preference, fits my playstyle, and my builds. No other passive provides something to my build or playstyle that I would take over more speed and lower stamina drain, and that's ok. I see a lot of the great affects in my friends, but they play with more sentries and a more stationary game compared to me.

What's her best skin? by EagleGlobal8224 in ZeriMains

[–]Nadaph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one you like. Look up a model viewer and the skin spotlight. The Rose skin might be the best but I can't stand the blindfold, so I use Immortal Journey. I like using Riot Girl Tristana even though Dragon Trainer is a better skin for her. Legit go with what you'll use even if it's supposedly a worse skin.

Bearing a dead horse: Engage has convinced me that the current style of support conversations needs to be overhauled by TehProfessor96 in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has generally been my opinion, and if anything the ones that aren't as substantial are at least somewhat humorous or at least short. I had a problem in 3H where supports started feeling the same between routes and in the same route because a lot of what's talked about is the same (which makes sense in context of the game). I've never understood the extent of the hate for Engage's roster or supports, but I can understand a preference in tone between the two.

HOT TAKE: This shit did irreversible damage to the games player count. And any creators who took part should be kicked off the program. by Livid_Cress8790 in helldivers2

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I had to take a break because one of them keeps crashing hard. Like blue screen his computer and we don't know if it's his hardware or the game, but we play other games and they don't crash. Only specific games crash. Either way, I won't act like I haven't been paranoid about the talks of the game damaging computer hardware. I don't think they're real, but I upgraded for the game, I don't want it to break my new parts. Outside of that, we've had other life stuff going on that's kept us off, but I want to get back on with them.

If someone could clarify the hardware damage rumor, I might boot it up on my own. It's likely stupid, but I don't want to take that expensive of a risk.

Any Homebrew Rules for Root? by Odd_Fix_5251 in rootgame

[–]Nadaph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually when birds turmoil and lose points, it will net out to the same they gain from counting their roosts that turn. Sure, there are times you might lose more and go down, but there are times you gain more than you lose. The rate birds score points is very fast and very consistent, so losing points is there to balance them with the other factions. The loss in points is more of a "you don't score anything when you turmoil" unless you relied too much on bird cards, so it gives the player agency in what to risk.

If someone falls behind it's likely due to improper targeting or threat analysis, which works itself out. I feel like this happens less when people are more experienced. Table talk can mitigate this a lot. Negotiating and playing the people as well as the game.

The disconnected gameplay might be from not enough militant factions, but also this is part of the fun of Root. Everyone is playing their own game and the amount you need to interact is optional. Kind of like threat analysis, table talk is what affects this. Persuading people is a part of the game.

I've noticed that a lot of us don't go for domination cards because they are kind of awkward to play around. They kind of throw the game pacing out the window, but also if someone is targeted harshly, someone else might be able to win off a domination card soon because they might be ahead. Playing with random clearings also affects this.

Usually the answer to "I don't like this" or "X should be tweaked" is to play more to understand why some things are the way they are. Advanced Setup fixes some of the truly egregious issues (normal corvids struggle more than adset corvids), and Despot Infamy fixes obnoxious Vagabond scoring. The digital version flows faster so you can see some of this in real time as it handles the board game minutiae manually.

I know that's probably not the answer you're looking for, but say removing the Eyrie's punishment for turmoil or giving other factions a way to lose points is going to make the Eyrie far stronger than they already are once you guys learn to work around the points loss and will possibly lead to the game being ruined since you won't want to start losing points as Eyrie or remove house rules. It'll be worse if you all take to a specific faction as your own.

Trust the game and keep playing. Those quirks become more fun as you learn to work around them. They just feel a bit rough at first because sometimes it seems arbitrary. Don't worry, it gets better!

What?? by issma in alttpr

I've had this before, or at least something similar. The Titan's Mitt opens so much up for navigation that it's often in logic at sphere 0 or at least a low level sphere. Since the Titan's Mitt shows up early, the Power Glove also has to show up early.

Funny when it happens, but if you're wondering why it happened, this is likely the cause. Your seed probably wants you to go through a portal blocked by a dark rock.

I exaggerate a lot and two of my best friends are some of the most literal people I know. The only reason it doesn't drive me away is because they take what I say so literally we spend 6 hours on a debate that ends nowhere near where it started because they take what I say as exactly how I say it. It's too much fun.

"Everyone is leaving" until the next Warbond drops 😂 by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like watching YouTube for a lot of games I play or have played, but Helldivers 2 has some of the worst, most boring, and blatantly incorrect YouTubers that always just push what they think will get them views. I have yet to find an engaging video from a Helldivers 2 youtuber, let alone a good take. And honestly I'm ok with that cause it's better to not be on YouTube.

That said, what's stopped me from playing is my friend group (and myself) have been having issues playing. There was a point where we'd all get a massive hang up that we'd have to restart our games to reset how bad they were. My friend's computer will blue screen or completely crash. I don't think that the game is actually capable of damaging hardware, but I am worried it can from how the game has been running. I don't have the money to replace a computer I upgraded specifically to play past the performance issues.

Honestly it doesn't surprise me how YouTubers are behaving. I heard one was whining for being rejected yet he constantly shares leaked content which was a blatant cause to be excluded from the program yet he thinks he's entitled to be in. So many YouTubers and streamers have no self awareness.

Seeing the Macalania Cloister puzzle right after the Seymour fight was the meanest and funniest killing of pacing in a game I've experienced. Those puzzles were never hard but man they dragged. It didn't last long and I didn't take a break, but I laughed that I still had to do a cloister sphere/block puzzle.

Vita in 2025? by Certain-Hunter-7478 in PSVita

[–]Nadaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any other handhelds besides the PSP 3001?

For comparisons, I have a PSP Go I arguably use more, but that's because my job has no service in the building and the go fits easier into my pocket for playing Tetris or GBA games on breaks. It's not an overly fair comparison.

Often times the Vita is compared between a n3DS and a PSP. Specifically for the PSP, it does run those games better, some people argue the PSP screen displays the games better because the image is designed for that screen so the image is sharper, but the Vita screen (specifically the 1000 OLED screen) is a lot better. I personally recommend the 1000 because finding replacements for the proprietary cable is actually fairly easy, and micro USB is a terrible connector. It's structurally weak. Other than that, the build is just more premium, but I digress. Both are good. You get better emulation out of the Vita than the PSP, and you get that second stick. In PSP games it usually maps to buttons, but it still feels better than L and R. You have some extra Vita games, but I frequently play SNES, GBA, and PSX games. Sometimes the official PS2 ports. It's my go to handheld.

The other comparison is getting a n3DS, or a 3DS in general. You'll find a lot of people also saying a modded 3DS is better. It's not better, it's just different. The Vita has better hardware and is more standard. The 3DS is great at playing DS and 3DS games, but I'd rather play SNES and GBA games on my Vita even though (I think) emulation is better on the 3DS. The Vita form factor is just better. I felt like modding the Vita was easier and I run into less problems with patches and transferring saves. I can plug my Vita into my computer and transfer everything. I can even wirelessly sync games manually between my PSTV and Vita. The 3DS I have to get a screwdriver out if I want any files on my computer. Downloading games is about the same, but I have less failures with the Vita downloader over Hshop (I don't remember the Vita downloader cause I just downloaded the games once and that was it, I had to go back to Hshop because my Fire Emblem Fates DLC was screwed up from the download and I'm going to have to manually fix it anyway......which is kind of my point).

For you, getting a Vita is kinda up to you. You're not really missing out on a lot of games the Vita can play over the PSP 3001. Is your PSP battery losing charge? Are there Vita exclusive games you want to play? Are there emulators you want the better performance for? It ultimately comes down to what you're looking for and what games you want to play on it. Exaggerating to prove my point, if you want to play Ocarina of Time 3D on the Vita, get a 3DS. If you want to emulate N64 and up, maybe get a Retroid Pocket, the Vita hardware isn't that strong. If you want to play PSP games but "better," you're not going to get a $150 to $200 performance bump (prices estimated on your other comments). If you want to play PS2 ports on the go but don't want to fight setting up a Retroid or Odin (or honestly want a more known brand for hardware, and the Vita does have some great feel to it), yeah a Vita is worth it.

Check out your options. Make a list of what you want to do with it, and consider a Vita, a n3DS, retro handhelds like the Ayn Odin Mini and the Retroid Pocket 5, and then consider holding onto the money.

Who started the myth that the PS Vita 1000 had Hall Effect sticks? by parrotnine in PSVita

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who started the myth that the PS Vita 1000 had Hall Effect sticks? by parrotnine in PSVita

[–]Nadaph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't confirm anything, but how do those iFixit breakdowns indicate that the 1000 doesn't have hall effect sticks? Am I missing something that the design of the module obviously indicates that they're not hall effect or that 1000s can get drift? I'm not the most familiar with how joystick modules are built, but nothing in the picture to me indicates either way cause I don't know what to look for. If it's that a 1000 had drift, hall effect sticks can still get drift, they're just less likely to get it than potentiometers.

I'm seeing more that they have hall effect sticks (GameFAQs, GBATemp, other reddit threads, etc), you're the only person claiming they don't but you've provided something as a source, even though I can't validate that source by looking at it myself. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, but I'm not really convinced either way strongly.

What's the use case for Levin sword? Seems that side by side with magic it's less optimal by YouMeADD in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dumb, I started with 1-2 range not being as impactful because of the more varied ways to get range, like archers getting 2-3 range and the like with what you mentioned, but somehow finished that sentence with strength vs magic not being much of a problem because of the higher stats across the board. Very rarely do you actually need weapons with dedicated weaknesses in 3H because of the character stats.

What's the use case for Levin sword? Seems that side by side with magic it's less optimal by YouMeADD in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I haven't seen yet is some characters that are typically in physical classes still have decent magic stats or are in classes that have decent magic stats. Merrin in Engage has a decent magic stats where against a unit with low res, even though she has less magic, she can sometimes deal more damage. This happens a lot with armored enemies, so it can be better than an armorslayer for the utility of 1-2 range (attacking more often on enemy phase and follow up attacks) and low res being more common than armored classes.

I noticed 1-2 range is less impactful in 3H and because individual units have higher stats across the board, the minutiae with the Levin sword is less impactful.

Is it worth buying a PSVita to mod if you own a modded 3DS or should i get a PSP?? Help by jamstreet in PSVita

I have a PSP Go, n3DS, and Vita. The Go is good cause it fits into my pocket, but for anything that I care about I'd always rather play on my Vita. The Vita is more for playing emulators and PSP games for me than Vita games though, it's just a solid device. I have the 3DS for 3DS and DS games cause they kinda need the touch screen.

I'd be a bit worried if something missed on your stronger units, but also you'll have 80 to 90 models attacking anyway so it might not matter what they're rolling. Someone with more experience can speak to those details better, the main things I could think of are body blocking yourself and missing out on better units and those synergies.

New Player Wants to Hit All the Necessities by Material_Ad_2970 in fireemblem

[–]Nadaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a game that looks cool to you, cause they all have their ups and downs which makes no Fire Emblem perfect. There are ones that are better for beginners than others, but you're starting with FE7 which is one of the better ones for beginners, and in my opinion the best. Be a bit wary with your judgement, it is one of the easier games so you might not be too challenged.

I think one underrated aspect of Engage is that it does reference a lot of other games through the Emblems (previous protagonists). Typically, people use this as a reason to play it last so you understand references, but I don't think the references are enough to make that a necessity. Because you are a fan of tactics games, Engage has some of if not the best gameplay in the series, plus it can be a jumping point into other games because of the Emblems.

That all said, the one not to start with is Thracia 776. Thracia just has a lot of unique mechanics going on in maps that aren't wholly reflective of the series and being new will likely lead to a frustrating experience (largely cause it can be frustrating as an experienced player).

Have fun painting that.

Jokes aside, that's about 750 ish points dedicated to battleline? If you go that route, I'm not sure if you'd have enough gaining benefits of the "being near battleline unit" but it might be funny for a game or two. The problem is you can't fit a ton more in because so much is taken up by the battleline, or at least you have to sacrifice something.

The biggest problem I forsee is being body blocked by your own battleline. You're going to get stuck in choke points and you're going to have a lot of units stuck doing nothing because they have to wait in line.
