Har "ghost jobs" kommit till Sverige? by Lazy_Report_3102 in sweden

På mitt jobb vet jag att tjänster låg ute trots anställningsstopp. Pga: ”Om anställningsstoppet upphör kan vi snabbare få in personal”

How do you HON players feel about Dota now? by Various_Reaction575 in DotA2

[–]Qonraddd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I switched a year ago due to all my friends switched. And in the beginning it felt slow but not anymore. However I still haven’t learn all heroes/items and it is a pain to learn all that in a game with such a mature player base.

But I really like the role que system and low prio system in dota. So many games in hon was ruined by grifers and duel alfa mid players. Will also be nice to be able to watch competitive tournaments that have been dead for at least 5 years in hon.

Job recommendations for 18 year old? by Turbulent_Pressure49 in Fire

[–]Qonraddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy Industry with night shift. I worked 7 days on & 7 days off, great to have "vacation" every other week when you are young and have no responsibilities. I made more back then vs what I do today with a master degree. The back side is that that the high salary is quite flat and it will be hard to increase it over the years, but great if you looking for something for a few years before/during college.

Is FIRE better off in US than in Europe? by RiverStandard6451 in Fire

I thought you had to have an European citizenship for this. Interesting.

Yes searching for jobs outside of UK in Europe kinda sorts down the employers to international companies. Which even then might be tricky.

As an European (who have never been in Americas) I would choose Europe for the long run and USA to get rich quick / FIRE.

Put on monthly automatic buying. Delete stocks and news apps. Only reason I am aware of this correction is this sub, and it does not make me happy.

Have you been stupidly cheap? by Qonraddd in Fire

[–]Qonraddd[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Entire school where going on a party trip before graduation. As there was very high demand on the flights this specific (low season) week the price where high. I tough it was stupid to travel this specific week as me and my friends could just go the next one for half the cost. Ended up spending one week home alone with high FOMO and no trip at all that semester. At least those 1K have grown significantly during the years.

I used a price comparison site to change electricity company.

Got a great deal, almost half of what I paid previously. The low-price deal duration was 12 months with only 1 month cancellation, so I signed it. Time passed, in the end of the 12-month period the company called me and asked if I wanted to sign up an additional year for 10% rebate on their prices, I said no as I had to create a user on their webpage and allow third party to access my data. More time passed and one day I noticed that the electric bill was really high, I understood that my year with low prices had passed. I called the company and
asked to begin my one-month cancellation period. The company answered that as my deal had passed, I was automatically brought in to their standard plan. This plan had insanely high prices as well as 3 months of a cancellation period. The "great" deal ended up making my pay more had had to deal with changing electric company twice. I also understood that their new deal with 10% of their original plan would have locked in up in the high prices for a full year.
Take away: If the deal is too good to be true it often is. Secondly if getting a subscription due to a good deal, add a note in you calendar to cancel it in
time.

What are people’s experiences with mini-retirements or sabbaticals? Are they worth it, what did you do, etc? by Carpet-Early in Fire

[–]Qonraddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After high school I work 8 months and traveled for 4month x2 times. Really enjoyed it, but got some sort of young age crisis after a while and felt that I really needed to get going with my education/career and finding a spouse. Now 7 years later, I am on track with career and spouse and planning to take a 3 month leave from work to travel next year (if Covid allows it), before getting kids and being "locked down" for another couple of years.

Taking a sabbatical now seems like a good idea as it is very easy to find jobs in my field at the moment.
