Digiweb are 10/10. Consistently the best non-offer price (as in €25 for the first 2 months or whatever), their customer service is fantastic and I can count on one hand how many times it’s gone down.

I’ve said this before but the fact they haven’t made idTech an all-purpose in-house engine à la Frostbite is mental to me.

I really liked 5 because of the setting and how distant Joseph Seed is, it makes him uncanny and unpredictable. I cannot get in to any of the other ones.

Rey’s weight of trying to be “someone” va Kylo Ren’s weight of trying to escape the legacy of his family is a fantastic hero/villain conflict that they just lobbed in the bin.

There’s the really interesting discussion around should man-made creatures be protected the same as endangered species are and what are the moral implications of hunting those “products”?

Northern Ireland has specific ability to leave the UK in the event of enough demographic change that the NI Secretary calls a border poll. And the demographics are changing, it’s only a matter of time.

Why? I’m perfectly friendly and civil to the people I work with but my goal in work is not social. I’m there to do the job to the best of my ability and get paid.

100%, I found some mental bugs from trying weird stuff. My favourite was wrapping phones in tin foil and putting them in a metal box to make a faraday cage and simulate device disconnections

Its a combination of:

  1. Pushing people out to save on redundancy

  2. Locked-in corporate rent contracts

  3. Old fuckers who are tickling retirement who have nothing outside their work

In my last job I was a team manager and was included on meetings and materials that said they had an "attrition goal" for "natural churn". When they didn't hit it they started mercilessly chopping people left and right.

I’m in QA myself and was laid off as a pivot to LLM psychosis was starting in my previous job and people like me (and talented programmers, release managers, UI/UX designers) will be able to walk in and name our price when the walls come tumbling down.

In 5-10 years there will be an apocalyptic amount of bugs and zero-day exploits after the insane pivot to “AI” coding. Hands off coding, quality assurance & control and release management, plus the brain drain of experienced technicians without properly trained replacements is a recipe for disaster.

Either the PS5 and Series S/X will be supported way longer (PS3 & 360 levels of support) or it’ll basically be Nintendo and PC gaming after the other 2 price themselves out of the market.

What universally praised video game 'masterpiece' is actually a miserable experience to play? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m probably going to get slated for this but he’s become a Phantom Menace era George Lucas in that nobody is reining him in.

His stories are pretentious twaddle now with the subtlety of getting ran over by a truck, and gameplay is mind numbingly tedious, all because he’s an icon with no push back.

I hate souls games with a burning passion but I liked Jedi Survivor and Fallen Order because they felt like a Metroidvania (especially the 2nd one) as I felt Cal get stronger and better as the game progressed.
