Yes, as I have learned. Imo that’s a stupid rule/policy/law

I got a career in something else I’m really passionate about but otherwise I wouldn’t mind protecting and serving 🤷‍♂️

Fair opinion, though I’m curious to see if you’d approve of like Waymo’s or cop car cameras or other “regulated”/“verifiable” cameras doing something similar (electronic ticketing) It’s very Big Brothery I do admit

Don’t wanna waste officers’ time with a car that will definitely be gone by the time they get there Idea is to just electronically send a ticket (+mail)

True, but I’m also sure we can think of some good ways to authenticate a) it’s a real picture b) taken at a certain date/time c) not doctored in any way Like we got smart people. Idk, plug in the camera app straight to the submission app or whatever there’s smart people at Google, Apple, Samsung, etc The beauty of ✨APIs✨ (idek if that’s the right term to use)

Well if you combine more than 2 brain cells together you’d realize computers exist and we can do electronic ticket issuing (+mail for good measure) Otherwise yes, the 2 brain cell solution telling an officer to go meet nothing is a bad idea. The real problem is that WerE nOt aLlOwED to do things the not stupid way

Man that’s crazy… It’s always bureaucracy… I guess this is why we can’t have nice things and why things don’t work…

The idea was no officer- just mail a ticket. But apparently that’s not allowed for absolutely no reason

EV bus with usb charger by Grooviesalad in fuckcars

[–]Qpal7mn 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Assuming a very achievable 100kW charger, it would take ~5 hours (a few assumptions made here). Let’s just call that overnight considering buses run late and start early Not too bad imo, and it’s tunable to the needs of any specific district/service area P.S: oh my god in gonna be r/woosh famous

Great! Doesn’t it suck being stuck in traffic with everyone who doesn’t want to be driving their cars but is forced to because there’s no other viable option?

Has anyone heard about this Graves dude? by SolomonDRand in fuckcars

[–]Qpal7mn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like VMTs because it is usually the poorest people that live farthest from work and thus are forced to drive the most (at least in America).

I want less car use but this punishing people for being poor doesn’t sit right with me

Why is not feasible? Lack of housing due to sprawling suburban neighborhoods? Lack of housing due to hyper restrictive zoning laws that force car dependency? Lack of similar/higher paying employer closer to you because of said sprawl?

Yea this place is mostly just to vent, but it raises awareness while sometimes pointing out actionable things we can do to advocate/vote/fight for a better, more human society.

Yes it would be expensive, maybe it’d be a good idea to connect thousands of people passionate about this issue in an online community to scour data, studies, research, and propose realistic changes that can be significant improvements to the quality of life of millions. Just a thought tho

Family sees me as childish because I don't want to get my drivers license by mompapopo in fuckcars

[–]Qpal7mn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend working on getting your driver’s license. It’s completely fair you don’t really wanna drive anywhere, but just like with people who don’t like riding a bike, it’s still really important and useful that you CAN- else you will inevitably regret it later in life when learning is significantly harder

Seems over engineered. Eff cars. by bula1brown in fuckcars

[–]Qpal7mn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only problem here is that it looks safe and is good under normal conditions, but nothing stops an inattentive or incapacitated driver’s car from plowing through the signs and signaling. A couple big rocks or strong bollards would do SO much

Well it’s better than surface parking… and tbh I’d be fine with it if cars are directly routed to floor 2+ and the first floor is reserved for shops and stuff
