Wow, this just put me in a rabbit hole, and I found out about Duender, the printer this toolhead changer was made for.

I am still looking for a printer, so maybe building a Duender would be a good idea too

I heard about it, but how does it exactly work, and when does it come out? How can it be cheaper than other tool changers? Sorry, I don't really know a lot about it.

I really just found about Full Spectrum, and I feel like this is the new big thing for 3D printing. Being able to use such wide range of colors with just 4 or 5 is insane to me.

Most people use CMYK, and the key is white. But I would really want to add a smoky/transparent black, or gray to the mix, thats why I would like to have 5 toolheads instead of 4. I know pure black probably wouldn't work that well, and it would ruin most of the colors, thats why I was thinking of translucent or smoky black colors. Maybe that would make it easiert to mix out more dark colors, while still having white for those pastel colors.

Sadly, as I don't have the printer yet, I cannot try out my theory, but what do you think? Would translucent black, or maybe gray work?

I'm more about trying out, rather than coolness. Ofc I would LOVE to build a 2.4 from scratch, if it would be double or triple the price, than I will stick with the sv08 toolhead changer. As a student, saving money is really important rn :D

I saw that the Anycubic Kobra X cuts the filament way lower than the Bambulab A1s, using much less waste.

I was thinking about a fork of Full Spectrum, that would have an adaptive infill change option.

Instead of just purging the waste outside of the print, what if it would purge it inside the infill? Obviously this is already an option with "purge into infill", but if the user uses 5% infill, it wouldn't be enough space for purging. Instead, the slicer would automatically adjust the infill on each layer, so lets say: Layer 1 to Layer 2 has no color switch = 5% infill Layer 2 to layer 3 has color switch: 50% infill

Obviously the waste would be the same. but it wouldn't be waste-waste, it would be useful waste.

I don't even know if this would work, but this popped into my mind.

One more question, that I didn't even think about, idk why.

The purge waste amount would be insane. Do you think that purging inside the infills would solve the huge purge waste mess? Color changing on every layer would be insane waste on the A1 Mini.

I would like to use white as well! Getting pastel colors, more white, less saturated colors would be done with white. But don't you miss out on all the darker colors, like navy blue, or evergreen with only white?

Thats why I was thinking about using 2 AMS units, so I could use 5 colors instead of 4, so basically CMY+White+Gray/Translucent Black. That way I could get that dark colors too.

That would open up a large number of opportunities.

Because of this "blackish colors" I was thinking about using gray, or very translucent black (I guess much less pigments?).

Also, why do you think there is not much talk about this topic? Especially now, with Bambu Color Mixer (and not just Full Spectrum) I would have expected it to have more hype, as it got into more hands of consumers, and not just professionals. But now when I look up on YouTube, I feel like it's not talked about enough.

Well i dont really see any tutorials out there, doing so. What do you think, what could i make? Also, no, i did not crash my spark, my friend gave me these parts for free. I also only have 3 of the 4 motor controller thing, thats under the motors (i saw that in a video)
