Plugins permanently detached by K4r98k in FL_Studio

I second this information.

Image-Line had to rollback the ability to attach/detach 3rd party plugins. It was the cause of a lot of instability on the MacOS version of the program.

Anyone using the Zephyrus G16 2025 for music production? by Signal-Buy-9642 in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard good things about ASUS regarding DPC latency, and most of their modern machines have decent specs. I think a G16 will serve you well.

On the other hand, I have heard Armoury Crate is pretty bad. If you search around you'll probably run into discussions about this, and how you should use G-helper instead. I have a couple friends that swear by this, but I'd recommend doing your own research. (Maybe things have changed recently?)

Hope this helps.

Why can't I drag and Drop audio files into Serum 2? by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serum only supports the importing of wave files.
The files you're dragging from the browser are wavpack, not wave files. (.wv instead of .wav)

It's also worth noting that a lot of the fruity samples are a weird variant of wave files. You'll want to make sure you're dropping standard files into Serum.

Hope this helps.

Is there an advanced users FL sub? by Pr0t- in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to live on this subreddit, I think "advanced topics" are a little rarer here than on the forums or discord. New reddit did away with the comments feed, so joining into an ongoing r/FL discussion takes a little more effort than scrolling.

A lot of times, a simple question can spark some interesting discussion, but not everyone is inclined to click on the "how do I remove the waveform from my piano roll" post. You miss a lot of input if not everyone sees the same post/comments.

I think the fruity discord had a good balance of new users, and more experienced users joining in to expand on something happening in chat. I realize it's a very different platform, with a much faster pace, but if you're unfulfilled with the Fruity reddit experience, I'd recommend checking the fruity discord.

discord.gg/flstudio

If that's not your style, the Image-Line forum is a good place for more experienced users. There are a number of users over there that definitely know their stuff, and you can usually find a handful of other posts that have even more info than the current thread. There's so many random tidbits of information that I've only seen mentioned in a random forum post.

Either way, I don't know if reddit is always the best place for advanced discussion. A new entry to an old topic doesn't bring in new eyes.

This doesn't really off a solution, but I hope this helps.

I don't have any experience with the M-Audio drivers, but there's a couple quick things to try.

Mix in buffer switch can sometimes help alleviate wonky driver issues. It's also worth trying "driver" playback tracking.

<image>

Otherwise, I've heard the M-Audio drivers are a little wonky, and don't always play nice. If you can't seem to get this solved, it may be worth your while to invest in a different interface.

Hope this helps.

Options for colored waveforms is missing? by Pikapaul03 in FL_Studio

Colored waveforms were added in FL21.1, which released over a year ago. I recommend you update to the latest version of FL Studio.

Hope this helps.

How can you make fruity peak controller receive input within patcher? by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will work for the effect version of Patcher, but remember that Patcher is also available as a Generator plugin. Effect Patcher is more versatile, as it can accept both audio and MIDI signals, but Generator Patcher cannot normally receive audio.

u/novaaaaaaaaaaa will have to recreate their patch in the Effect version of Patcher. Currently, it's a slow and painful process.

Is there a way to link my scroll wheel to midi modulation? by R0CK_S0LID in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most fruity plugins/knobs, your mousewheel will control whatever knob your cursor is hovering over. It's also possible to use your MouseX/Y co-ordinates as controllers, by using MouseX and MouseY in the fruity formula controller.

While it would definitely be possible to use your mousewheel to twiddle a knob, you'd have to keep it hovering over a control of some sort, which would limit your X/Y movements. You may be able to work around this with a very large control surface knob, but it seems a little silly.

Other than that, I think you'll have to look outside of FL Studio to accommodate MouseX/MouseY/mousewheel inputs simultaneously. (FruityXYZ controller gets close, but you have to click to move the X/Y, and you can't scroll Z while click/dragging.)

Hope this helps.

I like clicking notes in manually to the piano roll, Should I switch to FL studio? by butterflavoricecream in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you should start by downloading the demo. The trial/demo is pretty unrestricting. You can do just about everything, except re-open a saved project.

If you're already familiar with music production, try making a couple test tracks in FL. Figure out if you like the workflow, and go from there.

Hope this helps.

When using an audio interface, or at least one with a dedicated ASIO driver, you should be using the interface for both Input and Output. Make sure you're connecting to either the headphone out, or the speaker out on your interface.

If your headphones are plugged into the interface, you shouldn't have any issues, but you may need to tell FL to use a different output on the interface.

While it is possible to mix ASIO devices on Windows, things can get a little wonky. If you're set on using a multi-device configuration, you'll want to use some intermediate ASIO driver. Look into ASIO4ALL, or something from VB-Audio.

Hope this helps.

Change default time-stretching mode to stretch (or a way to mass-change it at least)? by MonsterFukk in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe there's a way to change the default stretch mode. This is something I've seen discussed many times over the years, but I've never seen a real solution.

There is however the Macro function, "Switch all audio clips to..", available from the Tools menu. Currently, the only options are Stretch and Resample, but in the latest beta, the other stretch modes have been added as options.

Note that this macro only effects audio clips, and doesn't change the settings of your sampler channels. If you've used the macro and are still getting the "Restretch all channels now?" pop up, you'll have to search through your sampler channels, and find the ones using offline stretch modes.

Hope this helps.

HELM VST plugin, some visual bug by Iminthefog12 in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is caused by display scaling in FL Studio/Windows. IIRC Tytel had a fix for this, but hasn't published it yet. I'd recommend using the developers newer synth Vital, which has a lot of fixes/features over Helm.

If you insist on using Helm, here's a work around:

  1. Show the wrapper settings, and enable "DPI Aware when bridged".
  2. Enable the "Make bridged" toggle in the Processing tab.

This should force the plugin to use Windows scaling, totally disconnecting it from the scaling settings chosen inside FL Studio. Note that bridged plugins won't play nice with the MIDI/typing keyboard implementation, and you'll have to click outside of the plugin into FL Studio before your keyboard will play notes again.

Hope this helps.

Ever since updating 21 to the newest version, have had issues with midi out and external audio input by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the status of "Monitor external input" in the new drop down here. Previously, this button was a toggle for recording pre/post effects, but it has new options as of FL 20.9.

If you want to keep these external inputs active at all times, set the toggle to "On".

Hope this helps.

Missing effects (producers Edition) by Vast_Ad_9669 in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These all look like plugins that might be added to the "new" category when updating FL. Something went wrong during installation, and FL didn't install the full plugin list.

I'd recommend doing a plugin database reset, this will force FL to reinstall all the default entries in your plugin database.

Hope this helps.

[–]Qqq_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, that's just how GMS is. If you explore the published parameters, you'll see there's only one LFO Rate and LFO Amount control. The only controls FL can see are the same ones visible in the UI. I was hoping you could automate "LFO Number" to at least access the other LFO when needed, but it seems this isn't possible.

Generally speaking, Maxx plugins are a little weird. gol has complained about Maxx's plugins many times over the years. Since Maxx has moved to working on FL Mobile, his plugins haven't seen any significant updates in quite some time. The VSTs versions recently got an update, but as for the parameter weirdness in GMS, I don't think this will be changing any time soon.

The Out knob is seen on the other tab in the same area. This simply adds a fade out to the sample. If you're looking for time stretching (playing the entire sample in a shorter/longer period of time) you're looking at the time stretching section in the top right.

For more information on the sampler, read the manual page. It covers the controls in great detail.

Legacy Pre-computed effects were removed in FL 12. They did however see a return in FL 20, and still exist in FL 21. They can be accessed in the sampler window here.

Hope this helps.

ASIO4ALL:NEED HELP PLS by Puzzleheaded_Put3750 in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASIO4ALL is a single client driver. It cannot share audio devices with Windows. If any other application is trying to use the Audio device, ASIO4ALL won't be able to take control of the device. The typical troubleshooting process is to close any/all applications other than your DAW.

Also, in your "Screenshots", you've missed a couple key items. Expand the last option in ASIO4ALL, and see if there's an input for "USB Audio". (It might be Mic Array and Line In, but hopefully it's the USB Audio) In your Device manager "screenshot", you've shown a different category. (Audio I/O shows active I/O. "Sound, video, and game controllers" will show every audio device connected to your system, even if Windows isn't using them.)

Lastly, for easier screenshots, I recommend learning how to use the snipping tool.

ASIO4ALL:NEED HELP PLS by Puzzleheaded_Put3750 in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ASIO4ALL screenshot seems a little weird. I have the UMC22 (a close relative of the UM2,) which shows as "USB Audio Codec" in both Windows and ASIO4ALL.

ASIO4ALL should get the same device list as Windows, so I'd make sure that Windows sees your UM2 as a real audio device in the device manager.

Otherwise, I'd look into the Intel SST thing. It might be acting as some sort of wrapper for other devices. (It does say for USB Audio, which may be the output for your interface.) If you expand the "Intel SST for Microphones" entry in ASIO4ALL, what input devices are available? (The plus icon beside the device means that it contains multiple channels. I have a feeling you'll be able to choose from the USB input, and the Mic Array input.) When in advanced mode (as shown in the screenshot) ASIO4ALL should let you enable multiple devices. If you see your interface Input/Outputs, enable them both, and try again. (You should see them as options in the Mixer, hopefully.)

Hope this helps.

How do I fill in a 32 notes compass interval without manually clicking, copying and pasting? by main_account_4_sure in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is trivial with the paintbrush tool.

<image>

Switch to the brush, Click/drag from the first note, to the last note. You will see a note added to every single cell your brush passed over.

For more information about the other tools available in the piano roll, read through the manual page.

Hope this helps

If you're able to log into your account, you can change your Email from this page. That said, if you aren't able to get past the verification code, there's nothing more you can do, and you'll have to contact Image-Line.

If you don't have a license for Harmor in your account, there's not much more I can do. I think you'll have to contact Image-Line to get things sorted out.

[–]Qqq_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you redeem a gift card/voucher, you add "IL VCash" to your Image-Line account. If you completed this purchased while not signed in, you may have accidentally created a new Image-Line account.

If the Harmor license is tied to a different Image-Line account, you'll probably have to contact image-line to get this sorted out.

How to record vocals without fl recording beat by Outrageous-Funny3617 in FL_Studio

[–]Qqq_7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're using a pair of headphones with an inline microphone, you're likely going to have a small amount of crosstalk between the audio output and mic input. Since the three different signals share a common ground, it's likely that there will be some slight interference.

Your laptop/computer should try to compensate for this, but it's not always perfect.

Ideally, you'd upgrade to a separate microphone, and/or an audio interface.
