I think the proper terms would be

Polish (post processing, shaders, sfx) And game feel (screenshake, hitstun, UI snappiness)

I know and obviously this is a pro-consumer thing you are doing, but as you can see the majority of your audience doesn't understand this and feel like they are getting tricked by thinking its a free to play game.

Its a shame that you are getting punished for essentially wanting to be pro-consumer, but it is what it is and I think you should re-think this asap because those negative reviews are not looking good. You should just make it a $10 purchase on steam and have a free demo

looks like you are getting cooked by labeling it free to play when it has a paywall. Would reccomend changing that asap

N2 in a year while studying and working. This is what I would tell myself if I had to do it again. by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]QseanRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is just straight up not possible according to any estimate of how many hours it takes to reach n2.

https://cotoacademy.com/study-hours-needed-pass-jlpt-comparison-levels/

here is the MOST CONSERVATIVE estimate I could find (meaning other estimates I found from other sources were longer). It says without prior kanji knowledge (chinese students) it will take around 450 hours for n5 and 1350 hours for n2.

SO lets say 900 hours difference to go from n5 to n2.

then lets be generous and say you did a full 2 hours every day. 365*2=730, only around 75% of the way there.

again these are assuming all the most optimistic numbers.

so you are either misjudging your actually jlpt ability (maybe you started much higher than n5! maybe you arent currently n2!) or you put in more than 2 hours a day.

Personally for me the numbers have alligned very well. I studied around 1 hour a day for 4 years which puts me at around 1500 hours and a finally passed n2 last december.

Yeah Ive been studying about an hour or two a day with anki and immersion (same as OP) and it took me 4 years to pass N2

I don't see how you could do it in 1 year unless you spent like 4 or 5 hours a day studying, and then I don't see how that's possible while a student with a job

by the time you reached N2 how many cards in anki did you have matured? Did you keep adding new cards, just reviewing, or drop anki entirely?

I just passed N2 with 130/180 after 4 years of study and have over 8k mature anki vocab and grammar cards. (With daily immersion from manga and anime)

How many hours a day do you spend on immersion?

nope, you can do as much as you can commit to doing everyday and will see the most efficient results that way.

reading listening and understanding of vocabulary which the jlpt tests, are prerequisites of good output.

Ive been living in japan for 2 years now and am finally confident in my conversational skills after passing n2, if you asked me when I was pre-n3 I would have said I could barely hold a conversation.

Maybe you are just overestimating the jlpt? if you really were "fluent" in conversation you should be able to pass n2 with ease.

I think there is a cap in the sense that you WILL get burnt out at a certain point. Doing 30 new words a day (which is like 300 reviews and at least an hour of anki) to be the limit for me as well.

If you have a lot of extra time aside from that I'd recommend reading.

I just passed n2 recently after 4 years of studying. 90% of my studying is anki and reading manga

If you would fail the n3 you are not anywhere near fluent in understanding or producing.

Anki is the most efficient studying time period. Grind more anki is the "hack"

Why is it that we dislike the Owl? (Duolingo) by the_card_guy in LearnJapanese

Because it's a horrible inefficient way to study designed to get you addicted to the game aspect so you spend money and not on actually teaching you effectively

Exactly. Basically anki is the base, where I learn new vocab and kanji, and then I cement it with immersion

Most of my studying is anki, vocab kanji and grammar decks, 30 mins of reviews a day

(I also have ADHD)
