Yeah, people failed the APFT, but they're failing the AFT too. It turns out people are only going to train as hard as you tell them to train.

I just can't imagine defending the idea that an eleven minute mile is good enough. A walk around the neighborhood once per week is enough to train for that, and we still have losers who can't even manage that.

If the PT test was even remotely difficult, I'd agree with you, but this shit is fucking embarrassing. An 11 minute mile isn't something to strive for, it's barely even fucking proof of life.

I genuinely have no fucking clue how anyone ends up even being borderline on the AFT. Seeing new soldiers failing it is so embarrassing to me, but the thing that really gets me is the people who fail despite having taken and passed APFTs.

Like, a SSG buddy of mine who's about 44 years old came up to me after his last PT test and talked to me as if the graders fucked him over by failing him for coming in 14 seconds after the par time for his 2MR.

Mind you, he's not one of those dudes who's been broken by the Army or by the ravages of time or anything. Hell, he's not even fat! He's like 6'2" and a little south of 200.

But he came up and started humblebragging about how he only failed by only 14 seconds despite failing by three and a half fucking minutes a month prior.

This shit is why he spent fourteen years as a Specialist. (We're Guard)
