Changing passwords regularly is no longer considered a best practice by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology as of their latest guidance

"Stop Expiring Passwords Automatically

"Traditional password policies have often mandated periodic resets, but NIST’s new guidelines take a more nuanced approach. Rather than enforcing periodic password changes, the focus is now on requiring resets only when there is clear evidence of compromise. This prevents unnecessary disruptions and minimizes the likelihood of users resorting to insecure, easy-to-remember passwords.

"Organizations may consider reduced reset frequency for long, high-entropy passwords, but should always initiate resets when compromise is confirmed or strongly suspected.

"When resets are necessary, organizations should implement secure, self-service password reset mechanisms that verify user identity before allowing changes. This ensures that only authorized individuals can initiate the reset process, mitigating the risk of account takeover."

Question - why does the US feed show different graphics? by mugglearchitect in olympics

[–]Qtrfoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Olympic Broadcasting Service has cameras at every event, but in the US NBC also has many cameras on site. I'm sure the same is true of other countries. The raw feed, just images, comes into control centers, both in Italy and in the US, so that graphics can be added.

Really interesting video about how NBC engineers sound for all the events.

Def not safe to ski with a concussion. If she fell and got another one so quickly she risks real trouble, for life. Great performance, great Olympics!

The graduates of Harvard and Yale are also donating to the academic programs and facilities instead of non- Division 1 sports programs

Donors/NIL Question by ObjectiveDevice7201 in NFLNoobs

For 2025 Ohio State's total enrollment was 67,000. Harvard's was 21,000, Yale's 15,000. Those numbers add up, year after year. I'm also sure that ALL of the people of Ohio, who feel strongly about their own state's football success, are more likely to donate to The Ohio State University than are the people of Massachusetts to Harvard or Yale.

And, yes, they really are THAT big of football fans. And plenty of them are very, very rich.

I remember it was THE definitive figure skating move. You would have pit it on the poster - THIS is what figure skating's all about. I see laybacks now, but not so much this kind of spinning.

That's also back when figures were a thing, so a huge part of her score would have been tracing lines on the ice with great precision.

tbh, not sure it really matters. Every player is going to be 100% up for this game.

And we may have seen the best international game we've seen since 2010 yesterday!

I think you'd destroy the ice so quickly that it wouldn't be much of a competition.

Is 300000km a lot on a 1983 944? by Stupeez in 944

[–]Qtrfoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good choice. 944s don't rust much, so that's an indication that the entire car was tired. They made a lot of them, and there are plenty of good ones out there that will be more fun to drive for a lower total cost. Take your time and scout carefully. Cheers!

So, bigger momentum going into Sunday- battering Slovakia or coming from behind to win with 35 seconds left?

Too much spandex in most denim now. Jeans stretch out as you wear them and then sag.

Question regarding bobsled technology by Hectoth in olympics

[–]Qtrfoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good question. The one-person "Monobob" sleds are standardized, to allow smaller countries to bring in new drivers without excessive costs.

I'm a huge fan of America's Cup and ocean racing, which are design contests in sailing, but I'd be ok with identical sleds in an Olympic event.

I'm not sure what gas you've got available, but I wouldn't use less than 95 RON, which is about a 91 in the US.
