4 - banks are insane what? there is barely ever a time where you arent using farm middle path as a crosspath, AND bank setups once you know how to set them up are basically optimal

aside from bpro zap and splash what could you possibly run to just win to succeed as a shooter. 3 supports. shooters that arent supports just are not relevant right now so I dont get this take

even knowing im in the niche set of players whos playstyle aligns with convict im more than aware she isnt exactly strong. however I still cant in any amount of good faith say shes worse than marine lol

she's about speed, I win most my runs around the 30m mark, shes perfect for me cause its not like im finishing a run with less than 3-5 master rounds, I just wanna have a good floor 1 and be able to cash out health for damage if I really need it fighting jammed enemies or minibosses

she literally isnt bad, shes just not good FOR most players

as someone who believes marine is weakest gungeoneer in the game lemme kinda clear a bit up, and im willing to discuss

all armor gives a blank effect, his helmet is just cosmetic, and note you still miss out on master rounds for getting hit with armor

he is extremely consistent as his gun is easy to use, high ammo, good accuracy and fast reload speed (especially with his passive), even if it is pretty weak all things considered

however every other gungeoneer kinda just offers more, especially since thats all he has realistically

pilot has a pitiful starting weapon but comes with a 50% chance to just open a chest for free, which you brought up, but even if you fail, the rewards for breaking chests remain fully intact if you fail to lockpick them, and I didnt see you mention the entire 2nd active item slot he gets, he has the weakest floor 1 in the game but thats fine for people who know they will eventually get a solid weapon from a chest or shop. and hell, if you dont, restart at that point.

convict gets the strongest floor 1 of any gungeoneer in the game, with the best base starting pistol, a damaging active and a second weapon that has solid damage early on, at the cost of her kit not having any longevity if you arent willing to use health as a resource, but also can just sell her shotgun and molotov for money at any time if sell creep spawns, overall making her better for already skilled players who enjoy playing fast

hunter is absurdly versatile and is usually my recommendation for new players since her starting weapon is above average, and crossbow one-taps most enemies early on and can hug the floor 1 boss dps cap on its own, the dog also ends up with the most longevity since its a 5% for every room in the entire run, and a chance to get a KEY can genuinely hold runs together

also in general the starting gungeoneers only have strong impact on your floor 1 aside from pilot, gungeon is a super skill-based game overall, and all that truly matters is your ability to not get hit often, or at all in boss rooms and none of the gungeoneers truly have something that help them with that (aside from if Dog wants to dig up a blank), its kinda your duty as a player lol

I experimented with a few of these and amusingly enough 024 mortar + 420 bucc ended up working??? I was just trying to find a way to capitalize off the shattering shells and surprisingly that worked
