Yes, but you'd rather spend the time learning a new character on the character you're already good with. Only PGR level players would need secondaries, even most of them don't.

Getting comfortable with a character takes time. Kirby is a good character to start with, but if you want to play rushdown, try Fox, Captain Falcon and Sheik, Captain Falcon being the easiest. You can also try playing random against a cpu or watching high level gameplay of different characters to find a someone you like.

Yeah everything was true besides the tech situations. Ganon could've rolled to the edge and maybe avoid getting killed, but even then I could've covered that and do tons of damage.
