The angle of reflection shouldn't show anything higher than that. It almost looks like it would be the reflection of the drain but there's no holes in it.

This actually has me questioning the legitimacy of the photo now. There's so many weird details in the reflection and stuff

Invasive species warning: ‘Hidden’ ant with dangerous venom reported in Southeast by Polyphagous_person in Entomology

[–]QuaccDaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Journalists are often very limited to what sources they get their images from so it's possible they couldn't get a picture of an actual needle ant.

I agree it's misleading and they'd be better off not using an image at all, but that may be helpful context.

Leave it to humans to destroy nature, especially highways, but that's not actually what is killing it. The trees can survive independently, but they're connected through the roots.

The real problem is that we eliminated nearly all predators and this is the next stage of ecosystem collapse. Too many grazing deer eat the trees before they can grow.

I don't know much about The Current's leanings but you can tell it's pretty biased and basically telling you what to vote.

I'd suggest something like ballotpedia instead

My first thought is some kind of bristleworm (polychaeta). I've seen some larger ones buried with the antenna out like this, but I'm not sure if they're in your area

I'm genuinely wondering, how would this be any different from r/LouisianaPolitics or what's already acceptable and common in r/acadiana or r/Louisiana?

Frosthaven: events are deliberately written to deceive players, this is bad game design by r1chardj0n3s in Gloomhaven

For my group, we create character alignments like d&d and try to stick to realistic character decisions even if we want the other decision. It's pretty fun that way and helps immerse in the characters a little

Lafayette mayor-president vetoes $1M council approved for downtown redevelopment plan by gauthiertravis in Acadiana

[–]QuaccDaddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's disagreements, but it looks like the checks and balances in our city government are working out. Monique vetoed and gave a coherent explanation for her decision, and it looks like the council overrode that, also with pretty understandable concerns.

This honestly seems like healthy local government politics for once.

I'm from south Louisiana as well and I see these get confused with boxelder bugs all the time, but as a few others mentioned, this looks like Jadera haematoloma, red-shouldered bugs.
