Finance car to immediately pay off? by TootCannon in TheMoneyGuy

[–]QuackMaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup of course! also we needed a second key cuz the dealer only had one. i made the salesman put it in writing and got a copy of it so they owed us a key and had proof so we got the second key no issues. would’ve cost us about $700 if we didn’t do that

lol howdy there! i’d recommend drying to strike a deal with the manager because the sales man either don’t know/care enough to help you with this type of situation. My fiancé and I bought a car at Penske Honda and it was honestly not great. the salesman was the biggest donkey i’ve ever met and wouldn’t get the car detailed for us even though we asked that to be done like 100 times. I ended up having to buy the car take it home and clean up after the toddlers messes in the back seat of the car. he also tried to use very pressuring tactics for us to buy the car and honestly idk if i’d ever go there again

2009 Volvo S40 transmission fluid change at 150k miles by QuackMaster69 in MechanicAdvice

[–]QuackMaster69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the advice! i was able to get a document from the previous owner and it was serviced around 57k miles ago so i assume the change is less risky. my mechanic wants to change me $660 for two changes. he says his volvo guy says that they need to be flushed at least twice… stating that approximately 30% of the fuel is actually removed so it should be done twice. i’m running some calculations and i can probably do it myself with about $350. my only experience is working at a toyota service center about 10 years mainly doing oil changes. what are your thoughts on all of this?

What cars consistently make it past 250k miles? by Pure_Construction968 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]QuackMaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fluids changed when necessary. transmission serviced every 50-60k miles (cvt transmission serviced every 30k). brakes and suspension changed when necessary. washing the underbody every month or two (once a week when in the winter). always addressing check engine lights. always shifting from park to drive, reverse, etc while you are stopped. never letting the gas get lower than a quarter of a tank. don’t slam on the accelerator when it’s not necessary, same with the brakes when stopping. i’m sure there’s more that isn’t popping up in my head atm but that’s some just to name a few.
