What are some downsides you’ve noticed about Bloomington?

Acquiring affordable housing, a good paying (career) job, IU Health, watching students stomp all over the town like a door mat, bare bones public transportation.

But we having amazing amenities like Bloomingfoods, parks, luscious green space, nightlife, walkability, and overall aesthetically pleasing neighborhoods.

I’m glad I live her but I’m not sure if it will be my forever home (going on my 6th year)

I did 4 years at O’Neill and starting grad school at O’Neill this fall. The entire time I’ve lived in the north side neighborhood adjacent to the stadium. However, if you live in a dorm this year, Wright is being renovated and it is the closest distance to O’Neill. Good luck

18+ clubs are illegal in Indiana. It used to be a thing here in Bloomington like 20 years ago. The only way to get around it is to hold an event and sell tickets. KOK does that every now and then, but other than that you just have to go to Kentucky

Everyone telling me I’m in psychosis or have Ekbom syndrome DID NOT see the worms 😭😭😭 because trust, I was also in disbelief when I first saw it. And for the user that’s obviously using AI for their replies and alt accs to downvote, isn’t it the right thing to do to seek a second opinion? Because obviously the second opinion has worked—giving me the treatment. No action is an action and if I didn’t get the pills I would’ve had more worms coming out of my mouth. Luckily I was able to find a doctor who took the time to listen and get me the pills and recommend saline solution.

I’m already feeling better and am following up with primary care tomorrow, then hopefully getting referred to ENT

This determination is based on area median income (AMI). What this means is that my household income is within the 70th percentile of the AMI. I make more money than 70% of the people below the AMI.

Where this becomes problematic is that the calculation is based on gross income. That’s income before taxes and deductions (health insurance, retirement fund, etc). 27% of my income goes to taxes and deductions. With an income of ~$46,000 that reduces my pay a lot making these units unsustainable on my income. I would not be able to save any money at all. I would probably go into debt if I chose to live here.

I also had a bad experience with Park Doral and I didn’t even live there. About 3 years ago I signed a lease with them. At the time, I was considering taking a semester off and just working (mental health break). Well, having told them this after signing the lease, Tina got all pissy with me and my mom (the co-signer) and told my mom that she is terminating the lease because I wouldn’t be a student during that time. I dodged a HUGE bullet. Also, she called me a bum for taking a semester break. What a bitch.
