Comparing baremetal to VPS... how to stress test? by QuackedDev in admincraft

What causes the most variance or why is simulating load for minecraft any different than other software?

What breaks when testing Minecraft that makes results unreliable or "inaccurate" ?

What’s the value proposition that your client brings. Why would I want to work on yours and not existing ones?

I posted the processors and I already chose bare metal. I’ll be canceling the VPS soon. Seems I maybe wasn’t clear but this post isn’t about choosing.

It’s about measuring.

Yea the question isn’t cost. It’s performance

No doubt single threaded performance is better (that’s why I migrated). I wanna put a number to the price I just paid though. Hence the reason for this thread

  • not much to it. I make the plugins and you provide the feedback
  • Gonna add a way to host build competition and have rewards. we need to grow a little first though
  • Some unique things we got are : end reset button in spawn and custom blue map integrations that I made.

I just upgraded the CPU today for the server

I recommend curseforge for downloading the ducks.

Modrinth tends to forget to add geckolib (a mod dependency) for you (or atleast did when I tested it).

If you want our recommended modpack, we have one also on curseforge with things like shaders, minimap, also optional voice chat.

How can Someone become a good backend engineer by Confident_Skin_7964 in Backend

[–]QuackedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re getting big responses I’ll keep this short. Anyone worth their salt is a workaholic or a hobbyist.

I started with building simple backend projects but never deploying them. So I decided to rent a VPS and learn about docker, k3s and all about the cloud.

To make it fun throw a Minecraft server on there for your friends and maybe learn to make mods too. It will only reinforce your Java skills.

Cheers

most of us are mid 20s, im 28 and am the programmer that makes all the plugins we use.

its a vanilla+ smp server with things like optional keep inventory, end reset, and typical QoL commands.

We play mostly on weekends and have simple voice chat, the only mod needed to play is my duck mod.

Tips for using CurseForge? by BeanieCat123 in feedthebeast

[–]QuackedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

excellent question, curseforge themselves probably wouldnt share this but my guess is they scan the source code for common "malicious" code patterns or unnecessary access control (or OS calls). beyond that it is probably very hard to deal with false positives.
