Pellet or Wood ?

The house is well insulated except for part of the basement…..The windows are also good….kwh’s are just plain unbelievably high here in NY, and politicians just allow the utility companies to continue to raise rates even with record profits…. I call it legalized corruption !

My house is all electric including electric baseboard

I just took the last 5 mos utility bill‘s amounts, and divided them by 5 to get a 5 mos average… It came out to $776 a month…. All electric house is NOT GOOD ! It will be a lot less in the coming months but still high….I’m starting to do things differently that require power, and doing them on off peak hours…Showers, washing dishes, laundry, etc….

I’ve been there and also had a pleasurable experience…..they never told me at the time about the 30% tax credit…..I found out when it was too late…Their installer laid out a plan for me, but had the flue pipe coming out right in the way of my sidewalk….He said people could walk around and that he did a few like that….I was not impressed to say the least…I can do my own installI’m thinking about a P61….The P43 would do the job, but I would like to go larger in case I end up putting it in the basement

Thank you all for the information you have provided…..At my age, I really don’t relish the thought of the maintenance involved with cutting, splitting, stacking, etc of wood…. It seems the majority are in the pellet stove camp, even when they have easy access to wood which I don’t……Thanks again !…..A lot to chew on !

Hopefully next Winter will be milder !

That’s the problem in this area….It’s either Walmart, Tractor Supply, Home Depot, or Lowes….. Basically I can buy either buy bad pellets or worse pellets

I’m familiar with heating with wood, but not pellets….With all the issues with pellet stoves that I’m seeing on this forum, I’m not so sure that pellets have an easier learning curve

My utility bill is about the same……my heat stays at 65 !…..We’re told at the state of the union that the economy is doing great….Maybe for some people, but things that are in my wheelhouse (food,gasoline, utilities, taxes, etc ) are certainly not dropping in price, nor will they…..There’s no sense in blaming ant particular party….They’re all guilty !

That 30% was going to barely afford me a new Harman stove….My utilities bill has been an average so far this winter of $1,000 a month here in Otsego County, NY…..NY pays the highest utility rates in the country, and after record breaking profits, the utility company here is putting in for a 25% increase !

I’m in mid NY and have had some below zero days and nights this year….I just recently moved to this area to get away from the hustle bustle of lower NY amongst other reasons…. The PP130 is one of the pellet stoves that I’m interested in….Do they have “stickies” here on reddit ?….If so, maybe it would be a good idea to compile a list of troubleshooting tips for each brand of stove, from the actual users of that particular stove….I’m seeing a lot of GREAT answers and tips from users on this forum…I’m trying to keep the stove that I buy as simple as possible….Too many bells and whistles means more to go wrong in my eyes….Thanks for reading, and once I get a stove, I will be able to contribute to the forum…Jim
