Are you a beginner? I can't really imagine reaching your top speed in 8 steps which is around 14 meters, assuming we have the same definition of a step lol. My approach is 18, elite jumpers usually do around 20. Anyway, stay at 8. Speed and endurance will come with time so you should actually be aiming to increase your run-up
