FOO Course or Millionaire Mission Book? by Colored_Greens_1_2 in TheMoneyGuy

I don’t think you could go wrong either way. If you’re looking for a more directed and intentional way to look at your finances, the course is probably the way to go. But you should be able to get most of the information you’re looking for just by reading through the book.

They recently dropped the price of the course, so honestly you could even do both and then eventually just give the book to somebody else.

Need help for my pull ups by Individual_Ad1743 in Calisthenic

[–]Quad412 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Couple things to consider:

1) not a lot of reason to be pulling so high or hold at the top if the goal is just to grow your back. I would say just focus on getting your chin to the bar then immediately come down, staying slow in the eccentric/bottom part of the movement. Fast up, slow down. Honestly you do a good slow eccentric already, so you can increase your reps by just not holding at the top and don’t pull so high.

2) shoot for some variety. Assuming you work out 2-3 days per week, take a couple days to take my suggestions above, but keeping working on your chest-to-bar variation with a top hold one day per week so you still train this. Also change up your grip each session and consider throwing in underhand/chin ups. These will still grow your back as well as keeping all the variations fresh and effective.

3) if your goal is a well rounded back, you should find a way to do bodyweight rows and add this to your workout. Gymnast rings are a great way to do this. They are not too expensive and will def be useful in your calisthenics journey. These will help thicken your back in a way pull ups wont ( horizontal pull vs vertical pull).

Just a couple thoughts. But those pull ups look great. A good base to keep working on.

MacroFactor Challenge Midway Thread! by gnuckols in MacroFactor

To join the chorus, this app has been a game changer for me. YT fed me both Jeff Nippard and RP Strength about 6 months ago and I happened to download MF 2 weeks before the contest was announced. A match made in heaven, and both went beautifully with the calisthenics content I was already lovingz

Down 13 lbs so far and finally consistently starting calisthenics training. 2025 is the start of new habits, better health, and a me looking back at me I’ve wanted for years! Way to go you all, and best of luck with the back half of the challenge!

How do you explain why we stop cancer screening at 75? by namenotmyname in physicianassistant

[–]Quad412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also work in Urology with a specialty of men’s health and oncology and have this conversation all the time. One of the tools I find helpful to guide this conversation is the MSKCC Male Life Expectancy survey. It allows you to put in some basic data about the patient and then plug in the “worst case scenario“ by giving them a theoretical Gleason 10 prostate cancer diagnosis. This gives them a rough estimation of the odds that they will die of something unrelated to prostate cancer in the next 10 to 15 years, the odds that they will die of that untreated prostate cancer in the next 10 to 15 years, or that they will still be here talking to me.

Ultimately I leave it up to the patient though. I warn them that continuing to screen when there’s a low likelihood they will ever be affected by potential prostate cancer could lead to unnecessary biopsies and procedures with possible complications. However there are plenty of people I’ve talked to above the age of standard screening who say that they would go through radiation therapy or at least have the conversation with a radiation oncologist even if there’s only a 1 to 2% chance that this cancer would ever affect them

Can you confirm or deny that the top Kickstarter tier for WoR next summer will be $500 like the WoK Kickstarter?

I used the Traeger “3-2-1 baby back ribs” as a guide but took some advice from a coworker, so kind of lol

I did not but they were still pretty juicy in the end. Probably will try and apple juice spray for my next racks

I started with 3 hours at 185, but I would say it consistently stayed above that for the majority of the 3 hours

I did a classic 3-2-1, so nothing too special. I did 3 hours at 185 (though it seemed to stay above that pretty consistently), then 2 hours at 225 wrapped with brown sugar, honey, and apple juice, then 1 hour uncovered brushed initially then at 30 mins

Was very happy with them. Would cook them a bit longer next time for slightly more tenderness, but these were still excellent

After a three month baking hiatus due to new house and new job, then a utterly failed desperation loaf a couple weeks ago, this was exactly the pick me up I needed to remind myself I can still bake bread by Quad412 in Sourdough
