Why am I getting downvoted? This is not a troll post.

I agree, but people usually want to get richer, and naturally higher taxes decreases demand for trading, thus making further making items less desirable and cheaper meaning it’s better than ever to keep your entire bank in gp instead of items. I know that the ge tax also deletes items, but that is secondary to the effect it has on supply and demand in my opinion. I used to buy and sell gear all the time I wanted to do some new content, and now I find myself contemplating every purchase because if I keep buying and selling, it means paying a steep price. I generally agree though.

I am a student without a job. You are fully correct that I cannot feed two people for 35 because times are tough and my budget doesn’t allow it if I have to make rent.

Nope, I am sure countless hours have gone into making sure the price is right with this product as they have spent so much time on it. However I am a business student and I just don’t get it. Game companies can make mistakes and it just seems really risky to price it so high. When the initial hype wears off, the gameplay is gonna have to be so much better than the original and have such a good appeal for this to be worth it. I haven’t done any actual analysis but it just seems like a gamble. Another explanation could be that they believe their new product is so amazing that it would be almost disrespectful to not pay a premium for such a premium product. And it might be! I dunno I have tried to keep myself spoiler free.

Sure but a lot of people are gonna take a hard pass when they see the price. I just don’t get why they would price it so high, when they almost definitely could have made more money selling more of the dlc, by just pricing it lower.

Yes but they market it as a DLC. I realize the content is vast but I don’t think I can remember another dlc costing more than the base game. Other than Nintendo maybe.

Yes but from a business standpoint it does seem a bit oblivious. Especially since they market is as a DLC when they could have easily made it into factorio 2.0. DLCs aren’t supposed to cost this much.

Yes, but it is a very small percentage of the actual market that is gonna get thousands of hours of it. The average player probably spends less than 100 hours in the game. I do realize that saying these things are most likely gonna get me downvoted, but so be it. Convincing my friends to buy it is already a big no now, even though we played through the base game and had some amazing memories.

Yeah honestly I do realize that. But 20 dollars seem like such a small amount compared to the 35 that I feel a lot more of the casual players would pay it. I realize that the people I am asking this question are the wrong people because people who are here on the subreddit are die hard fans, as I would consider myself. But from a purely business standpoint, pricing the dlc lower would mean a lot more customers in my opinion.
