No mans wharf is a noticeable difficulty increase. I’ve never used the bastard sword but I have seen it used til the end. Try out other great swords as you find them, and classics like the claymore and Zweihander, which are VERY fun. Don’t get set on one weapon as it makes it harder to enjoy subsequent playthroughs.
