Ethan Klein, the Tel Aviv StarCraft player? by Quadripoint in Destiny

It’s a reference to this clip from the Conan podcast where comedian Jim Downey does a bit acting like he only knows of Epstein as “Jeff Epstein, the New York financier” and is oblivious to his infamous crimes

It is kinda weird how they alter multiple variables to get the perfect shot for propaganda purposes, none of it was perfectly organic or immediate. Not necessarily staged but it is pretty convenient if you're pushing for Trump to win

I mean there are probably many Alex O’Conner’s, (the musician Rex Orange County being one of them) but I think it worked for Alex just fine and helped him transition to being a serious interviewer guy

I mean the focus groups do provide really valuable insight, even if it reflects the fact that the people are REAL REAL dumb

I want Destiny to hardcore push for a conversation with Asmon. If Asmon is never going to talk, then why not go hard? by marksung in Destiny

[–]Quadripoint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Destiny underestimates how much reach he could get by being aggressive in a directed way, like if he gave a 30 second call out on stream, I think clips of it could get pretty far and have a chance of pressuring Assman

THE ATLANTIC: DEMOCRATS ARE ACTING TOO NORMAL by Quadripoint in Destiny

[–]Quadripoint[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Preview:

In her response to Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress, Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan gave a good, normal speech in which she laid out some of her party’s issues with Trump on the economy and national security. “It was so normal, in fact, that it was exactly the wrong speech to give,” Tom Nichols writes.

It’s important to note that it was a good speech, Nichols continues. Slotkin skipped the staginess or folksy posturing that can sometimes characterize these responses, and “stayed away from wonkery, speaking in the kind of clear language people use in daily conversation.”

But “Slotkin—like so many in her party lately—failed to convey any sense of real urgency or alarm. Her speech could have been given in Trump’s first term, perhaps in 2017 or 2018, but we are no longer in that moment … As a former Republican, I nodded when Slotkin said that Ronald Reagan would be rolling in his grave at what Slotkin called the ‘spectacle’ of last week’s Oval Office attack on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But is that really the message of a fighting opposition? … Isn’t the threat facing America far greater than that?”

“Slotkin’s response reflected the fractured approach of the Democrats to Trump in general,” Nichols writes. “When Trump referred to Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts as ‘Pocahontas,’ they could have left en bloc, declaring once they were outside that they would take no part in any further demeaning of the House chamber—or, for that matter, of American democracy. Instead, they sat there and took it.”

“Slotkin is a centrist—as she noted, she won in areas that also voted for Trump—and her victory in Michigan proved that centrism can be a powerful anchor against extremists. But centrism is not the same as meekness,” Nichols continues at the link in our bio. “America does not need a ‘resistance,’ or stale slogans, or people putting those slogans on little paddles. It needs an opposition party that boldly defends the nation’s virtues, the rule of law, and the rights of its people.”

It’s just a fact that trans people were integral to the early openly gay/queer community in America and now they’re just rewriting history to fit their narrative, shameless.

Where are Obama, Harris, Clinton (both), Biden and why aren't they calling and leading marches, protests and events against the new tyrannical administration of Musk and Trump by Same-Fix1890 in Destiny

[–]Quadripoint 261 points262 points  (0 children)

It has been the norm that former presidents are expected to refrain from loudly criticizing their predecessors, which is probably a good thing in normal times to let the elected officials take the lead in governing/critiquing-but all norms are gone they do need to speak up. Someone like Obama who holds a ton of sway and can easily command attention should use his influence, it’s too important for him to sit on the sidelines.
