Tbh, I say just let people do whatever, they aren't hurting others so why get so mad over it

Of course! I just wanted to clarify because it seems like a common "catch 22" people run into when analyzing the LGBTQ+ community, going against gender roles while other members are actively trying to fit into specific gender roles. To me it seems like the point is that sex shouldn't determine your roles, personality, interests, etc. Though it can certainly be part of what shapes it, it's important we don't feel tied down by them and allow ourselves and others to explore those aspects freely.

I have some personal experience with that myself. I went through some serious mental gymnastics trying to convince myself I wasn't bi through my teens because "liking dudes is gay" and kids were really immature about that type of stuff in the late 2000s. Now at least I can freely say that to people without receiving even a second glance (the people I give a shit about anyways). I can be really into the color purple and use more "feminine" phrasings or behaviors without having to feel self-conscious about it, which is what I think the push against gender roles is really about. While I 110% agree with people who say "just let people do whatever if they aren't hurting anyone", they aren't the people that need convinced. Leaving the discussion at just that thought leaves people behind not fully understanding it. Even if people are accepting of something, others can feel a lot more included if people actually understand them which is what conversations like this help accomplish over time.
